Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday December 30th 2003 "Hi Stanley honey, you're home early," Starlene said as she watched her older lover close the front door to the living room of his Upper East Side mansion. "I thought maybe we'd go somewhere special for New Year's Eve," he said taking off his coat and hanging it on the rack. "Oh that sounds good. Where?" she asked as she tossed her hairstyle magazine on his antique coffee table. "Maybe we'll go to an island or something," he said. "You're really sick of the cold weather aren't you Stanley?" "Yeah, I'll call my travel agent and get a couple of tickets after dinner," he said taking a seat beside her on the sofa. "Great because I found a little something I wanted to model for you," she said picking up her purse from the floor and opening it. She took out the sheer nightie that Skeeter had given her from his lingerie store and held it up for him to see. "Wow! I can't wait to see that on you. Why don't you try it on?" "The housekeeper is in the other room," she said glancing towards the kitchen. "Then run upstairs and try it on while I call my travel agent," he suggested. "Okay," she said getting up off the sofa and walking towards the stairs. She walked up a couple of stairs when she heard the phone ring and turned to glance at him. "I'll get it," he said picking up the phone as he watched her rush up the stairs. "Hello," he answered. "Father did you write the check yet?" Jan asked. "No," Stanley answered. "I just don't know what to do," Jan said. "Why what's happened now Jan?" he asked. Starlene heard Jan's name mentioned and she tiptoed into Stanley's office at the top of the stairs and quietly picked up the other phone to eavesdrop on the conversation. "Skeeter is insisting that he's going to pose for the underwear advertisement for that marketing company," Jan said. "Just throw him out Jan," Stanley said pleased with the events. "I can't. He won't leave," she said pausing. "Are you still there Father?" she asked. "Yes, why?" "The phone sounded weird." "Oh it's probably just a bad connection," he said. "Are you sure we are the only people on the phone?" she asked knowing his hearing wasn't as good as it had been a few years ago. "Yes Jan." "Where's Starlene?" "She's upstairs getting dressed." "She might be listening." "She would never do that." "I bet she would. She's such a little snoop," Jan said. Starlene bit her lip as she listened. "Well what can I do to help you with Skeeter?" Stanley asked. "He's threatened to call his lawyer if I press for him to leave." "That bastard," Stanley said. "Maybe you could offer to pay him off again." "Again?" "Look father I know you've done it before." "I never..." he said getting ready to deny that he'd offered Skeeter money not to marry his daughter in the past. "Don't lie Father. We're both business people. Of course you offered him money when you didn't want him to marry me," she said. "You know me don't you?" he asked laughing. "Now that he's got some of my money he might be interested in yours too." "We've got to get rid of him," Stanley said in a solemn voice. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
