Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday December 4th 2003
Tiffany placed her container of "Rockin' Wok" Chinese take-out on the coffee table of her living room overlooking Bleecker Street.  She motioned for her sister Starlene to turn down the sound on the TV before answering the phone.  Starlene turned down the volume with the remote never taking her eyes off the TV screen.  The TV reporters had been interviewing Tiffany's estranged husband Skeeter all morning for the grand opening of his new lingerie store "Next to Nothing" on the ground floor of the building where Tiffany lives.
"Hello," Tiffany answered.
"Tiffany are you feeling better?" her boss Clark asked.  She had called in to take the day off.
"Oh yeah.  I feel better. I just needed some time off I guess," she said as Starlene glanced at her knowingly.
"Have you been watching TV today?" Clark asked watching his wife Nicole smile when she saw Skeeter on the TV screen in the living room of their townhouse in Greenwich Village.
"Yeah, why?"
"Did you know that Skeeter's opening his new lingerie store today?"
"Yeah. I saw it.  The TV crews are all over the place over here," Tiffany said walking to the window to look down at Bleecker Street below.
"What TV crews are there?"
"Most of the local channels," Tiffany said eyeing the satellite trucks lined up at the curb.
"Did you know that Starlene was on the camera earlier?"
"Yeah, I saw it.  She was on the way over to see me," Tiffany said as she noticed Starlene listening to the conversation.
"That was great publicity for Starlene.  I bet they'll sell a lot more Playbody Magazines this month now that the viewers got a look at Starlene on camera," Clark said as he saw Nicole giving him a dirty look.
"I'm sure the editors of Playbody are happy about it," Tiffany said resentful that her sister's picture was helping promote her ex-husband's new lingerie store.
"I tried calling Jan but her secretary said she had gone out of town for the day," he said referring to Skeeter's wife and Starlene's lover's daughter.
"That's what Starlene told me."
"Look I hope you don't mind but I think I'm going to drop by Skeeter's store.  I just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't be surprised," Clark said as he picked a piece of lint from his trousers.
"Why?" she asked knowing that Clark never really liked her ex-husband.
"Because this is a great opportunity for me to get on camera and get the name of Manhattan Party Planning out there," he said as he saw Nicole walking towards him.
"I wish you wouldn't do that Clark.  I don't want to help Skeeter at all," Tiffany said.
"Well if you don't want me to come by then I want you to go downstairs and be interviewed on camera."
"I don't want to do that."
"Look it costs a fortune to advertise in this city.  This is a perfect opportunity to get some free promotions," he said using his most authoritative voice.
"I just don't feel right about that Clark," Tiffany said watching another TV van pull up in front of the curb at Skeeter's lingerie store "Next to Nothing."
