Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday December 3rd 2003 "It's me," Starlene called out as she closed the door to Tiffany's apartment. "Yes, I know that Starlene," Tiffany said walking from the bedroom into the living room as she watched Starlene lock the front door. "I forgot the bagels Tiffany," Starlene said as she took off her coat and tossed it on the sofa. "That's okay. I'm not hungry anymore anyway," Tiffany said taking a seat in the chair as the TV blared nearby. "What's the matter with you?" Starlene asked taking a seat on the sofa. "I saw you," Tiffany said referring to seeing her sister on TV with her ex-husband Skeeter at the opening of his new lingerie store downstairs in the same building where Tiffany was living. "Well, I knew you'd see it," Starlene said defensively glancing at the TV screen and seeing a commercial for a Broadway show. "Why did you do that Starlene?" "Skeeter called me when I was on my way out of the door to come over here. He asked me if I'd agree to be interviewed. He said it would help his new store," Starlene said hoping they would run a tape of her interview. "Did you record it Tiffany?" "No," Tiffany said taking a sip of her coffee. "I wish you had. Maybe Stanley recorded it." "Why did you do it?" "Exposure, Tiffany." "Do you really need more exposure after posing for Playbody Magazine?" Tiffany said eyeing her sister's voluptuous bosom in the low cut sweater she was wearing. "Come on Tiffany. If they sell more issues this month of Playbody then I could become even more famous." "I wish you hadn't done that." "I always dreamt of posing for Playbody and I got a chance. So it's done," Starlene said angry that her sister didn't share in her dream. "No. I wish you hadn't helped Skeeter promote that store," Tiffany said nodding towards the store below her apartment. "Well, I did. It's done now," she said in her thick southern accent. "Well, how's it going down there?" Tiffany asked getting up and walking to the window to look out. "The store is packed with people. He's got a lot of merchandise too." "Who's down there?" "There are a lot of girls in there from NYU." "Oh really? I know this is killing Jan that she can't be here today," Tiffany said referring to Skeeter's new wife. "Yeah, I think Jan's going to be real mad," Starlene said taking a piece of candy from the dish on the coffee table. "How's that?" "Skeeter fired Amanda right before the TV crews got started interviewing him. Starlene said referring to the salesgirl that Jan had hired to work with Skeeter. Everyone including Skeeter thought Amanda was gay. "No!" "Yeah, he was nervous that she'd come back in the store and raise hell while he was being interviewed." "Oh wow. This is something. Did he tell you what he said when he fired her?" "Yeah, he said he told her that her job would be to stand behind the cash register. He would handle waiting on the girls that came into the store." "Oh," Tiffany said listening carefully. "They got into an argument. She said that Jan had hired her and that she wanted to go into the dressing room with the customers." "And?" "He said he put his foot down and said he was the owner of the store and he hadn't ever agreed to her working there. If she wanted to continue to work she'd stand behind the register or he pointed to the door." "And?" "She left, mad and vowed to call Jan when she got back into town." "So it's not over," Tiffany said thoughtfully. "Not yet. But Skeeter's having a big day today," Starlene said thinking about how much he seemed to be enjoying himself. They both glanced at the TV screen when they heard Skeeter's voice again as the cameras panned his new lingerie store "Next to Nothing". CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
