Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday December 2nd 2003
Tiffany zipped her jeans and ran the comb through her damp hair.  She walked back to the window of her bedroom to look down on Bleecker Street below.  She saw the TV crew trucks still parked at the curb.  She watched as several men in suits walked into her ex-husband Skeeter's new lingerie store below her apartment.  She could tell that Skeeter was excited about all of the media attention when she saw him on the news a few minutes ago. She had been on the phone with her sister Starlene when they saw the broadcast. Starlene had planned to go shopping but quickly changed her mind and was on her way over to Tiffany's house to watch the hullabaloo of Skeeter's new store opening.
Tiffany walked into the kitchen and plugged in the coffeepot to brew.  Her cell phone rang on the kitchen counter and she quickly picked it up.
"Hello," she answered expecting it to be Starlene on her way to the apartment.
"I miss you already," her lover Amir said.
"I miss you too. I wish you could have stayed here today," she said thinking about last night and their first evening together after almost breaking up.
"I wish this too. I go into meeting soon. I just want to tell you I love you," he said in his broken English as he saw his secretary motion to him that his business appointment had arrived in the lobby.
"I wish you were going to be here with me today. You will never believe what I saw this morning after you left," she said laughing.
"What?" he asked motioning to his secretary that he would be right out.
"Skeeter was on TV and his new store is opening today."
"In your building?"
"Yes. Can you believe this?" she said taking a coffee mug from the cabinet.
"Is Jan with him in this store?" he asked referring to the woman that had worked for him for many years.
"No. Starlene said she's closing a deal upstate and couldn't come to the opening of the store after she had arranged all of the media," Tiffany said walking towards the TV in the kitchen and turning it on.
"Jan never tell me these things.  We no longer work together as much as before," he said referring to the fact that Jan had worked as his assistant in the past.
"I know this is killing her Amir.  She couldn't be too happy that Skeeter is opening a lingerie store.  I know she isn't happy that the store is in the same building where I live."
"I have no reason for worry... no?"
"No!  Absolutely not," she assured him as she glanced up and saw her sister Starlene on the TV screen. "This just can't be."
"I go to meeting now," he said as he noticed his secretary's impatience.
"Okay," she said hanging up the phone with her eyes glued to the screen.  She picked up the remote and turned up the volume.
"This is my ex-sister-in-law Starlene," Skeeter was saying into the microphone.
"Hi," Starlene said as the camera immediately zoomed in on her cleavage in the low cut sweater that she was wearing.
"Starlene we understand you posed for the pictures for the advertisements for Skeeter's new lingerie store and went on to pose for Playbody Magazine," the reporter asked unable to keep his eyes off her bosom.
"That's right.  That's how I was discovered," she said in her thick southern accent.
"So you owe Mr. Diamond here for helping you become famous," the reporter said.
"Well, I guess you could say that," she said batting her long eyelashes and putting her hands on her shapely hips.
"You can see a
lot more of Starlene in this month's Playbody Magazine.  And if you want to see more of the latest in lingerie come down to Bleecker Street and the opening of "Next to Nothing."  Right Starlene?" the announcer asked as Starlene nodded and smiled her eyes fixed on the camera.
