Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday November 28th 2003 The phone rang on the nightstand beside Tiffany's bed. She reached over and picked it up answering "Hello." "How'd it go with Amir?" Starlene asked eagerly. "Great. He just left a couple of hours ago," she said sitting up in the bed and rubbing her eyes. "Oh wow. So he spent the night with you?" "Yeah. It was great Starlene. I think he really forgives me for the incident with Brandon," she said referring to a near catastrophe when her other lover showed up as her date at a dinner party after she had invited Amir. "I knew it. Stanley and I both knew he'd forgive you. After all he's the one that had a wife that was sick for so long. He had to understand that you couldn't wait forever," Starlene said. "I guess you're right," Tiffany said getting out of her bed and stepping into her fuzzy slippers. "Want to go shopping today? There are a lot of sales going on and you don't have to work," Starlene said. She held the phone with her shoulder as she picked through the credit cards that her wealthy lover Stanley had left for her. "No, I'm just getting up. Amir and I were up late and I slept after he left this morning," Tiffany said walking to the window and looking down at Bleecker Street. "I guess you two had a lot of catching up to do," Starlene said giggling. "Yeah, we did..." Tiffany said pausing as she stared out of the window. "What's the matter?" "I see TV crews on the sidewalk in front of Skeeter's lingerie store," Tiffany said her voice filled with disgust. "Oh yeah, today's his grand opening," Starlene said remembering the conversation she had with Tiffany's ex-husband Skeeter the other day. "Oh great. I can't believe this," Tiffany said as Skeeter walked out onto the sidewalk and lit a cigarette. "Yeah, Stanley said that Jan had helped him arrange the publicity," Starlene said referring to her older lover's daughter and Skeeter's wife. "I hope Jan won't be here all the time now," Tiffany said as she watched Skeeter blowing smoke rings in the cold air. "Oh no. I don't think that's possible. Jan is furious with the timing of everything," Starlene said putting the credit cards in her purse. "What are you talking about?" "She has to go out of town today." "Oh really?" Tiffany said laughing as she thought about how worried Jan must be that Skeeter would be alone in the store for the opening. "Yeah, she has to close a deal upstate. It came up all of a sudden. She had already helped Skeeter arrange the media for the opening and everything." "I know it's killing her," Tiffany said watching the TV news crews get out of the truck and walk over to where Skeeter was standing. "Yeah, Stanley said she wanted to cancel the closing but it was too much money to let go." "Well, Skeeter's got Amanda working with him," Tiffany said as she saw the new salesgirl come out of the store and whisper something in Skeeter's ear. "Yeah, I asked Skeeter about Amanda," Starlene said walking towards the closet and taking her coat out. "What did he say?" "He said he does think Amanda is gay." "Is that killing him?" Tiffany asked watching Amanda walk back into the store as Skeeter stepped on his cigarette to put it out on the sidewalk. "No. He says he's going to take care of that while Jan's out of town."
