Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday November 26th 2003 "I wish I knew when Skeeter was opening that dumb store," Tiffany said. She and Starlene watched her ex-husband's salesgirl hang balloons outside the lingerie store below Tiffany's bedroom window. "What difference would it make?" Starlene asked watching the masculine looking salesgirl blow up another fuchsia balloon before climbing up the ladder again. "I don't want to be home the day of the opening that's all." "Well, I could find out for you." "How?" "I could stop by and ask him on my way home," Starlene offered as they watched Amanda jump off the ladder and take out more balloons to blow up. "Okay. Do that. I really want to go somewhere that day so I don't have to see it. It just makes me sick that this has happened. Of all the stores in New York City he would have to open one right under my apartment." "He didn't know though Tiffany. I mean you hadn't moved in either when he signed his lease." "Whose side are you on?" "It's not that. It's just that Skeeter really didn't know," Starlene said as both women stepped back from the window when they saw Skeeter walk out onto the sidewalk. "I'd like to know what the story is with that salesgirl too," Tiffany said as they stood beside the window out of view watching the activity on the sidewalk below. "I'll ask him," Starlene said. "I do know he thinks she's gay. I ran into him on the sidewalk one day and he asked me if I'd ever had an experience with a woman coming on to me," Tiffany admitted. "Oh he did, huh?" Starlene asked surprised. "Yeah, so I know he suspects it." "I bet that's killing him," Starlene said picking up her coat from the bed and putting it on. "I'm sure it is," Tiffany said watching Skeeter point to balloons as he talked to Amanda. "I know Jan hired her. Stanley told me that," Starlene said picking up her purse from the bed. "Well you can tell she's not Skeeter's type," Tiffany said as he watched Amanda and Skeeter walk back into the lingerie store. "I'll call you when I get home and let you know what I find out," Starlene said walking towards the living room. "Thanks Starlene. Don't let him know that I'm curious. Okay?" "Sure. By the way, Stanley and I want you to come over for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Alright?" "Oh... I guess so. I don't have anywhere else to go. Do I?" "Well, we knew that both of your men are mad and you wouldn't have any plans," Starlene said. "They haven't called have they?" Starlene asked noticing the hurt expression on Tiffany's face. "No." "Okay, we'll see you tomorrow. Stanley's housekeeper is cooking," Starlene said. "Thanks," Tiffany said as she followed her sister to the door. Starlene hit the button to call the elevator as Tiffany stood in the doorway of her apartment watching. Her cell phone rang and she quickly picked it up from the table beside the door. "Hello," she answered starting to wave goodbye to her sister before closing the door. "Tiffany, its Amir. You have time that we talk?" he asked in his broken English. "Yes," Tiffany said pushing the front door of her apartment open hoping to stop Starlene and motion to her that her lover had finally called after their disagreement. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
