Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday November 14th 2003 Tiffany and Starlene walked into the townhouse where Tiffany works. "Tiffany," Clark said looking up from the work papers scattered about as he sat at her desk. "Hi Clark," she said taking off her coat and hanging it on the coat rack beside the door. "Hi Starlene. I'm surprised to see you here." "Hi Clark, I just came by with Tiffany," Starlene said taking off her coat and handing it to her sister to put on the coat rack. "Are you feeling better Tiffany?" Clark asked getting up from Tiffany's desk and walking towards them. "I was upset about last night." "I know. I'm sure everything will settle down though. Are you here to work today?" "No. I don't feel like working. I wanted to talk to Nicole," she said taking a seat on the sofa as Starlene sat down beside her. "She's in the shower. We got up a little late this morning," Clark said remembering how surprised he was that Nicole's passion had suddenly returned after months of coldness. "I need to talk to her Clark. You know I think she did this on purpose," Tiffany said. "What are you talking about," he asked his mind still on the past hour upstairs with his young wife. "I'm talking about the fact that the other day she gave me the afternoon off to set me up. I left the invitation list with her and Amir's name was on there as my date. She scratched through it and put Brandon's name. She called Brandon's office and got his cell phone number and invited him to the party last night. She knew I would be with Amir. She did this intentionally." "Oh I don't think so," he said taking a seat in a chair nearby. "You were upset with her last night after Tiffany and Brandon left the party early," Starlene said. "Well, that was last night." "What's changed?" Starlene asked. "I've had time to think about it. I don't think my wife would intentionally do anything like that," he said not wanting to admit that Nicole coming on to him had swayed his opinion. The phone rang on Tiffany's desk and he got up and walked towards it. "Manhattan Party Planning," he answered with pride as he took a seat at Tiffany's desk. "Clark, this is Brandon Douglas." "Good morning, how are you?" Clark asked glancing up to see the two sisters whispering to each other and shaking their heads. "I've certainly had better days Clark. I had spoken to you several months ago about an event around New Year for the theater," he said pausing as he regained control of his emotions. "Oh yes! I'm really looking forward to that," Clark said remembering how he'd already spent the money that party would bring in for his business. "I'm canceling it Clark." "Oh... why?" Clark asked as his voice dropped. "Obviously you don't know how to run a party planning business after the fiasco last night." "I apologize for the little mix up," Clark said noticing that Tiffany and Starlene had quit whispering and were watching him. "It's too late. This mess has cost me my reputation," Brandon said as his voice became louder. "Oh, I don't think it's that bad," Clark said. "I'll be the judge of that and so will the millions of people that read about it. Don't you read the newspaper?" Brandon asked slamming the phone down on the receiver. CONTINUED MONDAY.
