Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday November 10th 2003 Tiffany got out of the cab and walked quickly towards the heavy glass doors of Arqua Restaurant where her sister Starlene was to be the guest of honor at a party. "Good evening," the hostess said smiling as Tiffany walked into the popular Tribeca restaurant. "I think most of the guests have arrived," the hostess said taking Tiffany's coat and handing it to the coat check girl. "Of all the evenings for the hot water to go off in my apartment building," Tiffany said shaking her head. "Everything is fine. We took care of it for you," the hostess said. "Your boss and his wife Nicole are entertaining everyone," she said nodding towards the back of the restaurant. Tiffany walked through the crowded restaurant past tables of well-dressed patrons enjoying freshly prepared pasta. "There's Tiffany now," Clark said walking towards his secretary as the other guests turned to watch. "Tiffany I'm afraid we have a little problem," Clark said taking her by the arm as she approached the table. "I'm sorry Clark. The water in my building was turned off this afternoon. Didn't Nicole give you the message?" Tiffany asked glancing towards Nicole to see her smiling broadly and watching. "Yes, yes. That's not it," Clark said pulling Tiffany's arm to guide her away from the table of guests. "What is it?" Tiffany asked unaccustomed to his strange behavior. "There was a mix up on the invitation list and the name cards," he said nervously. "I'm sorry Clark. Nicole told me to leave and go shopping this afternoon. I didn't want to leave, but she insisted," Tiffany said worried she would lose her job over any mistake. "She told me she let you have the afternoon off," he whispered in her ear as he held her arm tightly. "I'm sorry if something got messed up with the printer. I knew I shouldn't have left early without asking you first," she said her arm beginning to hurt by the pressure of his grip as he held her captive. "I'm not upset with you Tiffany." "Okay, then good," she said taking a deep breath. "But I think you're going to be upset," he said frowning as he whispered in her ear. "Why?" "I think there was a mix up. Did you invite Brandon as your date?" he asked referring to the wealthy Broadway Theater owner she had been intimately involved with over the past few months. "No!" she said glancing around the table of guests. I invited Amir as my date," she said referring to her lover of many years. "They're both here Tiffany," Clark said as his voice trembled. "Oh no," Tiffany said feeling suddenly weak all over. "Amir is in the men's room and Brandon saw someone he knows at that table over there," Clark said as Tiffany glanced towards the back table to see Brandon talking with a man in a dark suit. "What am I going to do?" Tiffany asked resting her hand on a chair in case she fainted. "I don't know. I really don't know," Clark said shaking his head. "Do they know?" she asked. "Not yet," he said wiping the perspiration from his forehead. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
