Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday October 17th 2003 Starlene sat on the sofa of her lover's Upper East Side mansion watching his housekeeper work as she talked to her sister on the cell phone. "So Brandon says he looked for you at the opening of his new theater and when he couldn't find you he went to the parties with that other woman," she said repeating her sister's words. "Yeah, well I did leave early Starlene. I was just too upset to stand there and watch him on the red carpet with someone else. I mean he did tell me he'd have to walk the red carpet with one of the stars from the show. I just couldn't bare the sight of it, so I left before he saw me there." "So that's his excuse and now he wants to stop by your apartment on his way back to California." "Yeah," Tiffany said as she stood in her living room looking down on the sidewalk of Bleecker Street. She had been watching as trucks unloaded boxes of lingerie into her ex-husband Skeeter's new lingerie store below her apartment. "Well I guess you told him where to go," Starlene said confidently. "No. I just told him it didn't suit that I hadn't gotten dressed today and I wasn't in the mood," Tiffany said as she saw Skeeter walk out onto the sidewalk and light a cigarette. "I would have just told him off but good," Starlene said in her southern accent. "Well, I didn't. I guess I'll just think it over and see how I feel later. Maybe he and that woman really are innocent. I don't know. I guess I want to believe him Starlene. I mean he's so good looking. And too we've already... you know," she said referring to their intimate evenings together. "Tiffany I think you should just cut yourself free of both of your boyfriends," Starlene said referring to her lover Amir and Brandon. "I wish I could cut myself free of my ex-husband," Tiffany said watching Skeeter as he made a comment to a pretty young NYU student walking by on the sidewalk. "That's not going to be as easy." "No. I know that. I left him in Georgia and he moved here. I never thought I'd end up with him opening a damn lingerie store beneath my apartment," she said watching him take a long drag on his cigarette and blow a smoke circle. "Jan's going to catch him. I bet you anything," Starlene said referring to Skeeter's new wife. "I hope so. I feel like calling her and telling her the next time that woman Cynthia comes by," Tiffany said referring to the woman that Starlene met this morning when she left Tiffany's apartment. Cynthia had told Starlene she spent the night in Skeeter's store. She also told Starlene that Skeeter had come by the store this morning after his wife Jan left for New Jersey. Cynthia boasted about their 'quickie' in the back of the store. "Stanley says that Jan's been interviewing all of the candidates to work in the store with Skeeter. He says she walks out to the lobby of the office and looks at them. If they are good looking she buzzes the secretary and tells her to tell them the job has been filled." "So much for equal opportunity employment," Tiffany said laughing as she watched Skeeter step on his cigarette and stare up the street. "Well, I better go. I have to talk to the people with Playbody Magazine today and go over my bio," Starlene said referring to her upcoming feature in the gentlemen's magazine. "Wait a minute Starlene," Tiffany said in a whisper her voice filled with alarm. "What's the matter?" Starlene asked noticing the housekeeper's eyes on her as she propped her feet on the antique coffee table. "There's a long white limo pulling up to the curb," Tiffany said watching the car pull up in front of her house on Bleecker Street. "Is it Jan coming by to see Skeeter?" "I don't think so. Skeeter's eyeing the car as if he's not expecting anyone," Tiffany said glancing from her ex-husband to the long white car. "What's going on now?" Starlene asked. "The driver is out of the car walking around to open the door." "There are a lot of limos on the street Tiffany. It's probably just a nobody," Starlene said noticing Stanley's housekeeper giving her what she thought to be a dirty look. "No!" Tiffany said getting closer to the window. "What!" "It's Brandon. It's Brandon!" she repeated. "Is Skeeter still down there on the sidewalk?" Starlene asked. "Yes, Brandon is walking over to Skeeter now," Tiffany said standing back from the window so the men couldn't see her. "Can you hear them?" Starlene asked wishing she were there. "No, but now they're..." Tiffany said pausing. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
