Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday October 14th 2003 Starlene watched as Tiffany hung up the phone and got out of her bed where she had been crying all day. "Well, what did he say? All I heard you say was okay, okay, okay," she said repeating the one sided conversation with Amir that she had overheard. "I don't know," Tiffany said pacing the floor of her bedroom in her nightshirt and bare feet. "Well, what did he say?" "He said that woman he was with is a princess of one of the islands off the coast of Tonga." "So he took her to the red carpet instead of you," Starlene said referring to the Broadway Theater opening last night that she had attended. "Yeah." "Well, why didn't he call you and tell you he was coming back to New York and taking this princess to the opening?" "He said he didn't know until the last minute." "Likely story." "Well, it could be true," Tiffany said pacing a little faster as she ran her hand through her uncombed hair. "Why?" "He said he took her to the opening as a favor to her parents." "Oh. So he escorted a young beauty and it didn't mean anything to him." "That's what he said. He said that her parents were set to attend the opening but something came up at the last minute. This young woman was very upset and her parents called him and he flew here with her for the party. He said it was just a favor to her family." "Do you believe that Tiffany?" "I don't know. I really don't. I want to believe it I guess." "Where's the poor little princess now?" "He said she left this morning and went back home." "Well that's the answer about Amir. Now what about Brandon, I wonder what excuse he'll have." "I'm never going to see him again." "Really?" "No. I don't have that much invested in the relationship." "The two of you did do it though," Starlene reminded her. "That was a big mistake. I never should have. I worried so much that Amir would find out and now look what has happened. I guess I had this coming to me," Tiffany said pausing to look out of her bedroom window at Bleecker Street below. "Look Starlene," Tiffany whispered motioning for her sister to come to the bedroom window. Starlene walked quickly to the window and glanced down at the sidewalk below. "There's that red haired woman again," Tiffany said as she watched her ex-husband Skeeter standing outside his new lingerie store below her apartment with a strange woman. "I wonder if she's working with Skeeter?" Starlene asked. "You think?" "Maybe. I know Jan doesn't want Skeeter in the store alone with women coming in. That's why he wanted me to work there," she said referring to Skeeter's new wife and her lover's daughter. "How can we find out?" Tiffany asked. "I'm going home. If I leave right now I could bump into them and find out," Starlene said walking towards the chair and picking up her purse. "Hurry," Tiffany said standing back from the window and watching as Starlene rushed out of the bedroom. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
