Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday October 3rd 2003 Skeeter walked towards the ringing telephone in the back of his lingerie store. "Hello," he answered. "Hi Skeeter it's me, Starlene," his ex-sister-in-law said. "Hey Baby. How you doing?" "Not too good," she said. "What's the matter?" he asked as he opened a box of lingerie that had just arrived for the opening of his new store. "Stanley's furious with me." "Really? Why?" "For modeling for the second set of pictures the photographer took," she said referring to the photo session she modeled for a few days ago in Skeeter's store. After the pictures were taken for the ad for Skeeter's store, Starlene slipped off some of the lingerie for the second set. The photographer promised to pass them on to Playbody. "Oh. So he's mad at you?" "Yeah, real mad at me." "Didn't he like the pictures? You looked great," Skeeter said remembering the pictures of her stretched out on the red velvet sofa with very little lingerie on. "Oh he thought they were great." "Well what's the problem then? He's always promised you he'd set you up with his editor friend at Playbody Magazine and he never did. You met the photographer and did it on your own. I would think he'd be proud of you." "He's furious with you." "Me?" "Yeah, he's so angry that you saw the pictures." "Did you tell him that I wasn't in the room when they were taken?" "Yes. I told him that. I told him that Jan was in the other room too," she said referring to Skeeter's wife and Stanley's daughter. "You didn't tell Jan about the pictures did you?" he asked dropping the box on the floor. "No. No." "Good because I don't need Jan hanging around the store anymore than she already is. Thank goodness you'll be working here or she would never leave me alone." "Well, that's why I called you Skeeter." "What?" "Stanley doesn't want me working in your store now." "Why?" "Cause he doesn't like it that you've seen these pictures of me. He's jealous too." "I can't believe it. You mean you aren't going to work for me?" "I'm sorry Skeeter." "But you promised me Starlene. At least until the store is open." "I'm sorry Skeeter. I just can't. Stanley would break up with me. He even wants me to call the photographer and tell him I don't want to release the other pictures to Playbody," she said her voice filled with disappointment. "After all of that?" "Yeah. I'm so disappointed. Of course Tiffany's happy about it. She was furious with you too," she said referring to her sister and Skeeter's ex-wife. "I can't believe how backward these people are." "Sorry." "I don't know what I'm going to do now. I mean Jan will hang around here all the time." "Well, that's the other thing I wanted to tell you about," she said hesitating and clearing her throat. "What?" he asked preparing for the worse. "Stanley told Jan about the second set of pictures." "Oh no!" he said. "Yeah." "Well, she doesn't know that I saw them does she?" "Yeah, he told her. He said it served you right if Jan killed you for it too," Starlene said. He glanced up when the front door of his new store swung opened and his wife Jan walked in shaking a brown envelope as she walked towards him. "I better go. Jan's here," he said. "Good luck Skeeter." "I'm going to need it," he said slowly holding the receiver of the phone up in the air as he watched his wife walk towards him. Starlene listened just before he put the phone back on the receiver. She heard Jan screaming "You thought I wouldn't know about this! You just wait until I'm finished with you and Starlene. I'll see to it that my Father leaves…" the phone clicked and Starlene heard a dial tone as her heart sank.
