Starlene asked in a whisper as she and Skeeter sat on the sofa in the living room of his wife Jan's mansion. They heard Jan upstairs in her office talking with her father Stanley. "Yeah, I think the two of us should stick together don't you?" he asked in his slow southern accent pouring them another glass of wine from the decanter on the coffee table. "Yeah. You know I've always liked you Skeeter. I mean even when you and my sister Tiffany got a divorce I still liked you. It's just weird I guess. I mean you being married to Stanley's daughter Jan and me living with Stanley. I mean who ever thought that both of us would end up with wealthy people like this?" she said leaning back on the sofa. "You like living with the old man?" Skeeter asked referring to Jan's father and Starlene's lover. "Yeah, I've been with Stanley for years. It great living in that big old mansion," she said referring to his home on the Upper East Side. "You just got to get him to marry you Starlene. That's what you need so you can get half of everything he's got." "I'm really working on it Skeeter," she said reaching for her wineglass on the coffee table. His eyes immediately feasted on the low cut red sweater she was wearing and her full voluptuous bosom. "I think I have something that you'll be interested in Starlene," he said hopefully. "What's that?" "Well, you know Jan wasn't too happy to find out that Tiffany's new apartment was right upstairs above my new lingerie store." "Tiffany isn't too happy about it either," she said remembering how worried her sister was that Jan would always be around checking on Skeeter. Jan has always been jealous of Tiffany being Skeeter's first wife. "I wish Tiffany didn't feel that way. I mean it's unfortunate, but it's too late. I had no way of knowing she was moving into the same building." "But you can see her point Skeeter," Starlene said lowering her voice when they heard Jan and her Father Stanley talking upstairs in her office. "Yeah, I'm trying to see her point. I guess I can't really understand why she'd be so unhappy. I mean she's only going to be living there. I won't be going into her apartment or anything. I won't have keys." "Yeah, but you'll see her boyfriends when they come in," Starlene said remembering how Tiffany had voiced this fear. "Boyfriends? She's got more than one these days?" he asked raising his eyebrows. "Yeah." "I thought she was still seeing that rich guy Amir. I was expecting her to marry him after his wife died." "Well, she would like to, but he's been away a lot on his island taking care of his wife's estate and her family." "Who is the new guy then?" "Brandon Douglas," Starlene said remembering the handsome Broadway theater owner and how she had wished she could date him. "That guy that's opening the new theater on Broadway?" "Yeah, him." "Damn. Tiffany's just chasing men with money," he said as his face started to redden with anger. "I shouldn't have told you. Don't tell her that I did, okay?" Starlene asked. "I'll see that guy Brandon soon enough I guess," he said pouring himself a fresh glass of wine from the decanter on the table. "See that's what Tiffany is worried about. Well, enough of that. What's your plan for us?" She said reminding him of his prior statement. "You want a job in my lingerie store?" "I like not working Skeeter. Why?" "I've almost convinced Jan to let me hire you." "Me? Why would Jan let you hire me?" "Because she doesn't trust me with any other women and she doesn't want me alone in the store with Tiffany living above me," he said grinning. "But me?" "Look at you Starlene," he said eyeing her bosom. "You'd be perfect. You could model the lingerie when men come in looking for gifts for their girlfriends," he said as his eyes feasted on her low cut sweater. "Does she trust me around you?" "You are probably the only one because you're her Daddy's lover. It would be perfect Baby. I'd give you a lot of time off too. You just couldn't tell Jan," he whispered hoping she would accept his offer. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
