Jan asked after hanging up the phone with her Father. She turned to face her husband as he stood behind her at the vanity in her Upper East Side mansion. "Come on Baby, don't let anything ruin our evening," he said standing before her freshly showered as his damp towel lay on the floor at his feet. He could tell by the conversation on the phone call that she had just found out what had been revealed to him at lunchtime today. "Get dressed. I can't talk to you like this," she said avoiding the sight of his masculine body. "Come on Baby," he said picking up the towel and wrapping it around his waist. "My Father just called and Starlene told him that Tiffany rented the apartment right above your new lingerie store," she said referring to Skeeter's ex-wife. "Yeah, I just found out today," he said remembering how surprised he was when Tiffany and Starlene walked up to his door. They had been having lunch at an outdoor café when they saw him through the window, working in his new vacant store. "I can't believe this," Jan said throwing her brush on the floor and jumping up to stand beside him. "I didn't know anything about it until today. And that's the truth." "Did Tiffany know you had signed the lease on that store?" she asked wondering if Tiffany was lonely and wanted him back. "No. I can tell you that for sure," he said taking a seat on the bed as he watched Jan pace the floor of her upstairs bedroom. "So Tiffany came into the store with you today?" she asked stopping to stare at him. "Well, yeah. I mean Starlene came over first to see what I was doing in the empty store. Then Tiffany followed her. They had been having lunch at the Bleecker Street Java Saloon," he said referring to the restaurant right across from his new store. "Oh great!" Jan said putting her hands on her hips. "Come on Baby. It was all innocent." "Innocent? Now I'll have to wonder everyday what you're doing when you're at work." "I thought you were happy for me?" "Yes, Skeeter, until I find out your ex-wife will be with you everyday," she said starting to pace the floor again. "I can't help it. You'll just have to trust me." "I can't do that!" "I don't see what choice you'll have Jan." "I just can't trust you to be with Tiffany everyday." "Well what can I do?" "I'll see if I can get out of the lease," she said picking up the cell phone on her vanity and hitting speed dial. "What are you doing?" "Calling my lawyer, of course," she said continuing to pace as she held the phone. "Yes, put Lou Goldberg on the phone. It's an emergency," she said. Skeeter shook his head in disbelief as he watched her. He hoped his dreams weren't about to dissolve. "Yes, look Lou. I have a problem. It turns out that Skeeter's ex-wife signed a lease on the apartment right below Skeeter's new store," she said stopping to listen to the response. "Are you sure?" she asked rolling her eyes as she resumed pacing. "Well what the hell can I do now?" she asked taking a seat at her vanity and shaking her head in disgust. "I guess so. Damn," she said hanging up the phone and tossing it on the floor. "What did he say?" Skeeter asked. "There's nothing I can do about it now. He suggested that I hire someone to keep an eye on you and the store," she said. "Hire someone?" "Yes," she said getting up and starting to pace the floor again. "That's a good idea. I mean I'll need a sales girl anyway," Skeeter said clearly seeing his advantage. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
