Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday September 12th 2003 "What do you think I should name the lingerie store?" Skeeter asked Starlene as they stood in the empty storefront on Bleecker Street. "I don't know," Starlene said glancing out of the window to see her sister watching them from the outdoor café where they had been having lunch. The sisters spotted Tiffany's ex-husband in the vacant store below the apartment where Tiffany had just signed a lease. "I'm going to get a lot of publicity for the store. You know Jan has a lot of friends in high places," he said referring to Starlene's older lover's daughter and his new wife. "That would be great," she said glancing across the street again to see that Tiffany was paying the check. "What's the matter? Don't you like the store?" Skeeter asked. "Oh. Yeah, it's not that. It's just that Tiffany and I were having lunch over there at the café," she said nodding towards the café. "I haven't seen Tiffany in ages. Let's go tell her to come over so she can see the new store," he said walking towards the front door as he spotted Tiffany crossing the street walking towards the building. He turned the key in the lock and pushed open the glass door looking out towards Bleecker Street as Tiffany walked towards the door. "Hey Baby," he said smiling broadly as she walked closer to the storefront that still had a 'commercial space for rent' sign on the door. "Hi Skeeter," Tiffany said glancing beyond him towards Starlene. "Come on in. This is great running into my two favorite women," he said as Tiffany walked into the empty store glancing towards her sister. "Take a look around Tiffany. It will look different soon. It will be filled with sexy lingerie," Skeeter said his eyes fixed on Tiffany's legs in the short skirt she was wearing. "Lingerie?" she asked thinking the company he was working for was opening new stores. "Yeap. I haven't decided on a name yet. What do you think about Skeeter's Secret," he said smiling broadly. "What are you talking about Skeeter?" Tiffany asked her face started to turn white. "It's my store," he said pushing his broad shoulder back and putting his hands into his jean pockets. "No!" she said as her jaw dropped. "Gee you could at least pretend to be a little more excited for me," he said frowning. "Did you sign the lease?" she asked. "Yeah. What the hell's the matter with you Tiffany?" he asked annoyed. "I have to go," she said walking towards the door fighting back tears. "What the hell is the matter?" he demanded as Starlene walked towards her sister. "Tiffany just signed a lease on the apartment right above your store," Starlene said patting her sister on the back as they walked towards the door. "Oh," he said pausing to think about the meaning of this revelation. "I hope I can get out of the lease," Tiffany said her voice strained as she turned to look at him. "Well, I don't know what to say," he admitted. "Maybe that you'll get out of your lease," Tiffany said hopefully. "I won't do that." "What do you think Jan will say when she finds out that your ex-wife is living above your lingerie store?" Tiffany asked. "She doesn't have to know." "Come on Skeeter. She'll find out," Tiffany said. "Jan won't come over here often," he said thoughtfully. "That's not really the point. I want my privacy too," Tiffany said feeling tears coming to her eyes. "Well, I'm not getting out of my lease," Skeeter said as his jaw tightened. "Fine. I knew you would be selfish," Tiffany said following Starlene out of the door onto the sidewalk as he stood in the door watching them. "I guess I'll be seeing you around Tiffany. Like it or not. Unless you find another place," he said locking the door and walking towards the back of the empty store. "I'm ruined," Tiffany said as the tears rushed down her cheeks. "I can't believe it. I wonder what Jan will say when she finds out," Starlene said thoughtfully. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
