Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday September 11th 2003 "No, wait Starlene," Tiffany said as her sister pushed her chair back to leave the outdoor café where they were having lunch. "It's Skeeter. I'm sure," Starlene said putting her hand up to her forehead to shield her eyes from the sun as she glanced across Bleecker Street towards the window of the vacant store. "Yeah, I think you're right. It is Skeeter. Why on earth would he be in that vacant store right below the apartment I just signed a lease on?" Tiffany said watching her ex-husband through the window of the store. "I'll see. I'll be right back," Starlene said pushing her chair back and tossing her napkin on the table. Tiffany watched as Starlene walked towards the curb. Starlene paused and waited as a New York Sightseeing Tour Bus pulled up in front of the restaurant waiting for the light to change. A couple of men on the top tier of the bus spotted Starlene. The young men gazed down at Starlene's voluptuous bosom in the in her low cut dress and started whistling just before the light changed and the bus pulled away. Starlene dashed across Bleecker Street struggling to keep her high heels on as a cab rushed towards her. Starlene walked up to the vacant store window and glanced in beyond the 'commercial space for rent' sign in the window. She clearly saw Skeeter in the back of the store with a measuring tape. She tapped on the window carefully not wanting to injure her freshly manicured nails. She smiled when she saw her ex-brother-in-law glance up. She watched as he tossed the measuring tape on the floor and walked towards the doorway. He turned the knob and opened the door. "Starlene! How you doing girl?" he asked in his slow southern accent. "Great. How about you Skeeter?" "Good. How do you like my new store?" he said waving his hand towards the empty store. "Your new store?" Starlene asked. She felt her heart jump as the meaning of his words sunk in. "Yeah, this is it. I haven't picked out a name yet, but I'm working on it. Come on in," he said motioning for her to join him. "Oh. Okay," she said forcing herself not to glance back towards the café where Tiffany was watching them. "Skeeter when did you get this store?" "I signed the lease just a couple of days ago." "Really?" "Yeah, I can't wait to open," he said noticing a mark on the wall that he needed to have fixed. "But what kind of store are you going to open?" Starlene asked walking into the empty space and looking around. "Lingerie, of course," he said smiling as his eyes feasted on her low cut dress and her pushed up bosom. "Oh, of course," she said following him towards the back of the building. "I was thinking about putting the dressing room here," he said pointing towards a small area in the back. "I can't believe it. Have you quit your job?" she asked as she nodded her head at the area he was showing her. "Yeah. I emailed my notice the other day. It's official. I'll be in business for myself soon." "Does Jan know?" "Come on Starlene! How do you think I got the money for a big expensive space like this," he asked smiling. "I guess she hasn't told her old man yet," he said referring to Starlene's older lover Stanley. "I don't guess so." "I'm sure he'll be real surprised," he said with glee in his eyes. "So will a few other people," she said glancing out of the window to see Tiffany watching them closely as she sat at the outdoor café waiting. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
