Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday September 10th 2003 "Would you like another glass of wine?" the waiter asked glancing back and forth between the two sisters at the outdoor café on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. "No, we're fine," Starlene said. "So what did Amir say about the new apartment you found?" she asked glancing across the street at the building where her sister would soon be moving. "He understood how I felt. He said when he went to his island he didn't think he'd have to stay so long. His wife's estate was more involved than he'd realized. He's been helping her family get things settled. Then there's his spa too. I think Amir's happier on the island than he is here in the United States. It's harder being a foreigner in America these days." "But if he loved you he'd be here for you." "Well, that's the way I see it too. So I'm moving into the new apartment. When he gets back to New York, we'll just take it from there." "Good. So when's Brandon coming back into town?" "He'll be back soon too," Tiffany said rolling her eyes. "Good thing you're moving. Sounds like you'll need the apartment to keep your affairs straight," Starlene said laughing. "Yeah, the Broadway theater will open soon and Brandon will be in town a lot. I know I'll soon have to decide between the two men." "What's going on at work?" "Hell. It's really horrible. Since Nicole came back she's so mean to Clark," she said referring to her bosses wife's that came back and caught Alexis in the house with Clark. "So where is Alexis?" "She's still in New York as far as I can tell. I guess she's not…" Tiffany paused to glance at the table next to her. "I guess she's still alive," she said referring to the statements she overheard when Nicole wanted her mob boss Father to get rid of Alexis permanently. "Wow! You know it's really something when you think about it. Nicole didn't want Clark at all until she found out that he might have someone else, now she wants him." "I don't know so much that she wants him, she's just mad. I mean she's really mad." "She'll get over it and leave him again," Starlene said glancing across Bleecker Street then holding her hand over her eyes to shield them from the sun. "What's the matter?" Tiffany asked noticing the puzzled expression on her sister's face. "I think I saw Skeeter going into the store over there," Starlene said pointing towards the building where Tiffany had recently signed the lease on her new apartment. "Probably just looked like him," Tiffany said taking a sip of her wine. "No. Look Tiffany," Starlene said in an excited whisper. Tiffany put her wineglass down on the table and stared in the direction of the building where she had recently signed a lease on her new apartment. She saw her ex-husband through the window as he walked around in the vacant store on the ground floor. "Why would Skeeter be in that store?" Starlene asked watching closely. "I don't know. The 'commercial space for rent' sign is still in the window," Tiffany said relieved to see the sign still there. "Is he still married to Jan?" "As far as I know. I mean Stanley hasn't told me that they are divorced. I know Stanley would be thrilled if they were," she said referring to Jan's father and her lover. "Do you think I should walk over there and ask him what he's doing in the building?" Tiffany asked. "He would wonder why you care. Don't you think?" "You're right. Knowing Skeeter he would think that means I want to be with him again," Tiffany said. "But I could walk over and ask him, couldn't I?" Starlene said pushing her chair back to get up.
