Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday September 3rd 2003 Tiffany walked into the living room of the townhouse where she worked and closed the door. "Is that you Tiffany?" Nicole called out from upstairs. "Yeah, it's me," Tiffany said taking a seat on the sofa as she looked at her empty desk nearby. "Make yourself comfortable. I'll be right down," Nicole called out. "Thanks. Where is Clark?" Tiffany asked. "He's not here," Nicole said as she descended the stairway into the living room. "It's just you and me." "I was supposed to see Clark and talk to him about my job," Tiffany said starting to worry that perhaps Clark didn't want to reinstate her in her position as his secretary. "Oh, he had to go out on a sales call," Nicole said taking a seat in a chair near Tiffany. "Oh no, I needed to talk to Clark. I really need to get things straight about my job. I signed a lease on a new apartment and I can't go without a job." "I can straighten all of this out," Nicole said crossing her legs as her short skirt rose up high on her suntanned legs. "I can come back when Clark isn't busy." "I said I can straighten all of this out. Unless you don't want to talk to me," Nicole said raising her eyebrows. "Of course. If Clark gave you the authority to reinstate me then that's fine with me." "I have all of the authority I need here Tiffany." "I didn't mean it like that. I just meant, that I didn't know whether you were staying here with Clark or not." "I'm married to Clark." "Yeah, but you know what I mean. You moved out and went to Florida. I didn't expect to see you back here so soon." "It seems that no one did," Nicole said referring to the fact she had come home to find Alexis upstairs with her husband. "It's nice to have you back," Tiffany lied. "You are the only person that's said that." "I'm sure things will get better." "Look, I want to know what you've seen since I left here." "Nothing really. I just worked everyday. Same old thing," Tiffany lied. "Come on Tiffany. I come back from Florida and found that woman Alexis here moving in and supposedly in business with my husband." "I wasn't here. I'd left for the day," Tiffany said hoping to get out of the discussion. "I know you know more than you're saying." "Not really Nicole." "Well then I'll fill you in," Nicole said leaning back on the sofa and watching Tiffany closely. "Okay," Tiffany said. "Clark said that he went to Alexis's house for dinner. He had been interviewing her to become a partner in his business. He said that she got him drunk and he signed the partnership papers that night. He said that he came home late that night and she phoned him the next morning telling him he'd signed the papers." "Oh," Tiffany said pretending not to know. "He said that he never slept with her. That's when I came home and found her almost undressed in the house. He said she had thrown herself on him. He even said that he had been surprised that she brought over her stupid kitchen blender to cook for him," Nicole said as her eyes narrowed. "Poor Clark," Tiffany said remembering how Clark had admitted to her that he'd spent the night with Alexis. "Do you know anymore than that?" "No," Tiffany lied. "Well, I've sent Clark to the lawyer's office to see if he can undo this mess." "I hope he can. I really need my job back." "I'm handling the hiring and firing from now on Tiffany." "You mean you're staying here with Clark?" "Yes, and he's talking to the lawyer about other changes. There will be a lot of changes, that's for sure." "Like what Nicole?" CONTINUED TOMORROW.
