Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday September 1st 2003 Tiffany placed her coffee mug on her desk and reached for the ringing telephone. "Manhattan Party Planning," she answered. "Hi Tiffany, it's me," Starlene said. "Boy you're up early this morning." "I missed you. Stanley has already gone to work and the housekeeper is running the vacuum. It woke me up. I feel like firing her," Starlene said. "Come on Starlene. He's had the same housekeeper for years and you move in and fire her the first day or so! That's horrible," Tiffany said glancing up when she thought she heard the sounds of a woman's voice in Clark's upstairs bedroom. "Okay, you're right. I'll try to get used to her. Look when are you going to move into the new apartment?" "I'll ask Clark if I can take a few days off to move," Tiffany said when she heard the sounds of the shower turn on upstairs. "That's cool. Wonder how Clark's doing with Alexis?" Starlene asked. "Pretty good I guess. I just got here and I hear her upstairs now. I guess she spent the night," Tiffany said. She heard the sounds of footsteps on the stairs. "I better go. Here comes Clark. I'll call you back," she said putting the phone back on the receiver and shuffling through papers on her desk to appear busy. "Morning Tiffany," Clark said as he walked towards her desk. "Morning Clark," she said glancing up to see him taking a seat in the chair in front of her desk. "Did you get your apartment?" he asked. "Yes, I've signed the lease. Starlene saw it with me Friday afternoon after work and she loved it. So I guess I'm moving out of Amir's place soon," she said as she opened the morning mail. "Have you told Amir yet?" "No, I'm going to call him tonight and tell him. How was your weekend with Alexis?" she asked as she picked up another envelope to open. "Horrible," he said feeling her eyes on him immediately. "Clark what's the matter? You look terrible," she said noticing his blood shot eyes and messy hair. "It's been the weekend from hell Tiffany." "What happened? I thought you were so happy to have found Alexis and to be bringing her into the business." "I was but then Nicole came back," he said nodding his head towards his upstairs bedroom. "No!" Tiffany whispered. "Oh yes. She caught Alexis and me here too," he said as his eyes dropped to the floor. "You weren't? You know?" she asked raising her eyebrows. "No. But Alexis wasn't dressed. We had been playing around downstairs and went up to the bedroom. Nicole had just gotten out of the shower and she wasn't dressed either," he said shaking his head in disbelief. "Uh! Were you dressed?" Tiffany asked trying to visualize the scene. "I was the only one dressed," he said picking a piece of lint from his trousers. "Oh my. I guess it was pretty nasty." "Nasty is a polite word. It was horrible." "Well, I'm sure Alexis understood and Nicole will find an apartment soon." "I don't know Tiffany," he said getting up from the chair and walking towards the window to look outside. "What do you want to happen Clark?" "I don't know. I just don't know. I've signed the papers with Alexis to become a partner and now Nicole's moved back in," he said turning to face her. "Clark is that a scar on your face?" she asked when she noticed the long red nail scars down his cheek. "Nicole had a little accident. Just cancel my appointments for this week. I can't see anyone," he said. "Okay. I was going to ask you if I could take off a few days to move, but I guess that's out of question now," she said resigned to her bad luck. "No. Just leave now. Take a week, two weeks, as long as you want," he said starting towards the stairs to go up. "But I don't want to be fired or anything like that." "No. I'll let you know when I get my life and business back in order," he said stopping on the stairs briefly when he heard Nicole's voice. "Clark hurry up. Daddy's on the phone. He wants to speak to you," she screamed out. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
