Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday August 26th 2003
"Hi Tiffany," Starlene said as she closed the door to the townhouse where her sister worked.
"Hi Starlene," Tiffany whispered holding her fingers over her mouth to signal her sister to keep her voice down.
Starlene gently shut the front door and tiptoed slowly towards Tiffany's desk. "What's up?" she whispered taking a seat in the chair in front of Tiffany's desk.
"Alexis is moving in with Clark," Tiffany whispered.
"Get out!" Starlene said as her hand flew up over her mouth.
"Yeah, he seems real unsure of everything too," Tiffany said remembering their conversation a few minutes ago.
"Well, why did he let her move in then?"
"The night he went to her house for dinner he had too much to drink and signed a partnership agreement with her."
"Uh!" Starlene said glancing towards the stairs when she heard Clark's footsteps.
"Starlene," Clark said as he came down the stairs surprised to see her in the office.
"Hi Clark how are you?" she asked smiling warmly.
"Oh great.  I hear congratulations are in order for you and Stanley," he said.
"Yeah. I moved in with him a couple of days ago."
"You'll be married soon. I just know it," Clark said.
"I hope you're right Clark.  What about you?  How are you doing?"
"Great. Matter of fact I'm on my way out now to help my new lover bring some things over," he said.
"New love?" she asked as if she didn't already know.
"Yes.  I'm taking on a new partner in my business and my life.  Her name is Alexis.  She's very beautiful and very wealthy," he said raising his eyebrows.
"Good catch. Way to go Clark," Starlene said.  "Maybe we'll have a double wedding," she said jokingly.
"You're funny. But you know what?"
"What?"
"We will have a big party.  I think it's time," he said walking towards the front door as he put on his sunglasses.
"You got it.  Good luck, Clark. See you later," Starlene said as he opened the door and walked out into the hot August air.
They watched him walking over the cobblestones towards the gate of the mews.
"Do you think this will last?" Starlene asked turning to look at her sister.
"I don't know.  I don't think he's divorced from Nicole yet."
"He couldn't be.  Nicole only moved to Florida a couple of weeks ago. You know Clark is the last person I would have expected to find someone else so fast," Starlene said.
"Yeah, I know. They had been drinking a lot that night at her house when he signed the partnership papers."
"But he doesn't have to let her move in with him."
"I know.  But I think Clark's lonely and confused."
"I think Clark is impressed with her money too," Starlene said.
"Probably. I hope it's more than just the money.  For his sake."
"Well, what about this apartment you told me you found," Starlene said referring to the apartment Tiffany had mentioned on the phone today.
"We'll go see it as soon as I lock up," Tiffany said taking the keys from her desk drawer.
"You have keys to it?"
"Yes, I signed the lease. I hope I did the right thing," she said as the worry clearly showed on her face.
"Hey, you've been in New York City for five years now.  You sublet a place and Skeeter took it from you," she said referring to her sister's ex-husband. "Then you moved into Amir's apartment and he's always abroad taking care of business," she said referring to Tiffany's lover. "You're sick of Amir's absence and want a love life, then you need a place of your own. How could it be a mistake?"
