Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday August 14th 2003 Tiffany rushed across the living room to pick up the ringing phone. "Hello," she answered taking a seat on the sofa of her apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "Hi Tiffany," Starlene said leaning back on the sofa and taking a sip of her Diet Coke. "Starlene, how are you doing?" she asked still sad that her younger sister had left and moved in with her wealthy older lover. "I'm settling in. Stanley's gone to the office and the housekeeper is here working away," she said listening to the sounds of the vacuum cleaner upstairs in Stanley's bedroom. "How does it feel to have a full time housekeeper?" "Great. I gave her the evening off last night though. I didn't want her around while I was here for my first night with Stanley." "Why? She's going to always be there isn't she?" "Yeah, but I felt weird about her hearing everything I had to say to Stanley and I just wanted to be alone with him in the house the first night." "I miss you," Tiffany said glancing around the living room and noticing Starlene's CDs were gone from the bookshelf. "Yeah, I miss you too. What are you doing today?" "I was just getting ready to go to work." "So how is work?" "We'll see if Clark hires Alexis," she said referring to the beautiful middle aged woman her boss had been seriously interviewing. "Yeah, keep me posted about that. What about your love life?" "You mean the lack of love. Amir has been on his island for a month now and Brandon has been busy in California. I have two boyfriends and I'm alone all the time." "Find another one." "The first thing I have to do Starlene is to decide what to do about this apartment. I mean it's Amir's place. I can't live here and see other men." "There are plenty of apartments out there and the rents have come down some. Why don't you look?" "Maybe I will. I think I'll go out at lunch today and see what's on the market. I've noticed some great places. I want to stay in the Village," she said glancing out of the window to Washington Square Park below. "Want me to go with you?" "Yeah, that's a great idea. I'll call you and you can meet me." "Okay, see you soon," Starlene said hanging up the phone. Tiffany picked up the Village Herald newspaper and opened it to the real estate section. She saw several apartments available in her area. She picked up the pen from the coffee table and circled one that sounded especially nice. It was a newly renovated building nearby with a storefront that was for rent too. She put the newspaper into her purse and walked towards the front door to leave when the telephone rang. She rushed back to the coffee table and picked up the ringing phone. "Hello," she answered. "Hi. I'm sorry Tiffany, I forgot that I promised Stanley that I'd go with him to this luncheon today," her sister said. "Oh that's okay. But guess what. I found a great sounding apartment and it's here in the Village. It's just been renovated," Tiffany said as she dreamed about a new home. "Sounds great. A new place will be good for you Tiffany. I hope it turns out to be something you'll love. But be sure it has enough room for me to come back if Stanley doesn't marry me," Starlene said. "Don't worry, I'll always have room for you. I better go. I'm going to run by there on my way to work just to see the outside first," Tiffany said. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
