Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday August 13th 2003 Stanley opened the door to his mansion on the Upper East Side. He glanced around the living room at the boxes near the sofa. "Is that you honey?" Starlene called out from upstairs. "Yeah, it's me," Stanley said tossing his briefcase on a chair and walking towards the sofa to take a seat. "I'll be right down," Starlene called out. "No hurry," he said picking up the decanter and pouring himself a Brandy. He heard her high heels as she came down the stairway into the living room. "Wow, what are you doing all dressed up?" he asked noticing she was wearing a low cut red dress. "We're going out to dinner tonight," Starlene said walking towards the sofa and taking a seat beside him. "But my housekeeper always cooks on Wednesday evenings if I'm not out," he said loosening his tie. "Well, I'm here now and I told her not to cook." "Okay. How did you do with the unpacking today?" he asked looking around at the boxes. "Good. I have a few more things over at Tiffany's," she said referring to her sister's apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "Why don't you leave some things over there?" he asked wondering if everything wasn't moving along too fast. "Why?" she asked as her eyes narrowed. "Why not? She's your sister you might want to spend the night with her or something." "Are you sure it's not because you're having second thoughts?" "No honey," he lied. "Good. The housekeeper got me a key made to the front door today. I wanted to see about having the phone listed in both our names and having some stationary made too," she said. "Stationary?" "Yeah, like thank you notes, stuff like that." "We don't need that." "Yes we do," she insisted. "Please, Starlene. It's been a horrible day," he said pouring another drink. "Why honey?" she asked rubbing his leg and deciding to tell him about the stationary she ordered another time. "It's Skeeter. I can't stand him," he said referring to her ex-brother-in-law that was now married to his daughter Jan. "Oh that. Look Stanley you may as well just get over it and get on with life. Skeeter's married to her now. What can you do?" "I wanted to set him up in business if he'd agree to leave her." "He wouldn't agree?" Starlene asked wondering why Skeeter didn't grab that offer. "No, instead he convinced her to set him up." "That's Skeeter," she said grinning broadly. "He's despicable." "Oh he's not so bad. I mean isn't it funny Stanley? After we get married Skeeter will be my son-in-law and I'm younger than he is," she said laughing so hard tears started to roll down her cheeks and her voluptuous bosom shook. "Seems like everyone is enjoying themselves but me," he said. "Tiffany's not too happy either," she said wiping the corners of her eyes. "What's wrong with her?" "Amir's always abroad and her new lover Brandon is always in California," she said referring to Tiffany's two-love interest. "That's perfect for her. She can keep them separated," he said wisely. "But the apartment belongs to Amir and she's not sure what will happen to her if they break up or if he finds out about Brandon," she said starting to worry. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
