Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday July 31st 2003 "I'm going to bed," Tiffany said glancing at Stanley and her sister Starlene. The couple had just come in after attending a party at Gracie Mansion. She knew they were arguing and thought it best to give them time alone. "Good night Tiffany," Starlene said as she watched her sister walk down the hallway towards her bedroom. "I guess I better get some sleep too," Starlene said as she and Stanley sat on the sofa in the living room of the apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "No, let's talk a while." "You want to talk. That's a first," Starlene said pouring a glass of wine from the decanter on the coffee table. "I know you're upset with me Starlene," he said lighting his second cigarette after a week of not smoking. "Yes, I'm sick of everything." "Because I won't set the wedding date?" "That's right. You said that once Jan was married and settled then we'd set the date," she said referring to his daughter that recently married Skeeter. "Now she's married and we still don't have a date." "You realize that Jan's marriage has been the cause of many sleepless nights for me?" He said. "I can't help that Stanley." "I know. I know that isn't your problem." "Then there were those rumors about you and Nicole too. How do I know for sure they aren't the truth." "Come on Starlene. Do you really think I'd be so stupid as to get involved with Nicole after the problems I've had with her Father in the past," he said referring to her Father the mob boss in Florida. He had a fling with Nicole and her father learned of the affair and threatened Stanley. "How would I know?" "What about you and this damn Vinny?" Stanley said referring to the brute friend of Nicole's father that Starlene had seen a few times. "Vinny's a friend. That's all." "Friend. Friend of a Mafia boss." "See, here we go again. It's just the same old thing Stanley. It's not getting us anywhere. I don't think we have a future." "Don't say that Starlene," he said glancing at her voluptuous suntanned bosom in the low cut white sundress she was wearing. "Well, we don't. You won't marry me and I won't wait." "What if we come up with a plan. Something that would kind of get us through until I'm prepared to set the wedding date?" "What kind of plan?" she said as her eyes narrowed. "Would you like to move in with me? Maybe we could see how it works out before we jump into things," he said swallowing hard. "Really? You mean that?" she asked shocked by his suggestion. "You could bring over a few things and see how it goes," he said as he picked up his wineglass and took a long sip of his wine. "A few things or move in?" she asked eyeing him closely. "Well, whatever you need." "And stay there with you everyday and every night?" "Yes, I guess so," he said wiping the perspiration from his forehead. "Oh Stanley! That's wonderful. I'd love it. Then we could set the date for the wedding after I'm settled in!" she said visualizing her life in his mansion. "Yeah, I guess so," he said realizing he'd expected her to reject the idea and hold out for marriage or nothing at all. "I'll start moving in tomorrow." CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
