Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday July 28th 2003 Tiffany glanced up from her desk as the front door opened and her boss Clark walked in closing the door behind him. "How did it go with Alexis?" she asked referring to the job candidate that he'd taken to lunch. "Great. I really like her," he said walking towards Tiffany's desk and taking a seat in the chair nearby. "Well, you have plenty of candidates to talk to," she said holding up the stack of pink telephone messages she'd taken while he was out. "I liked her a lot," he said getting a dreamy look in his eyes. "Really?" "Yeah. She might be it." "Aren't you going to interview for a while Clark?" "I don't know. I don't want her to get away." "Jobs aren't that easy to find." "Neither are people like Alexis," he said staring out of the window smiling. "Well, tell me about her." "She's single." "Oh," Tiffany said wondering why he mentioned that first. "She's very smart and aggressive." "That's great." "She ran her own business. Party planning just like this one," he added. "Why did she go out of business?" "She got a divorce. Just like me!" "Well you aren't divorced yet." "Yeah but it looks like I will be." "I thought you hadn't given up on Nicole." "I haven't." "I thought you were hiring someone so you could spend time in Florida trying to get Nicole back," she said repeating the intentions he had voiced to her only the other day. "Well, that's true. But you know after meeting Alexis I see that maybe I need to think more about my choices." "Are you going to hire her Clark?" "I might." "I guess it's not my place to ask but I have worked for you a long time…" she hesitated. "Go ahead ask," he said turning to look her in the eyes. "Can you afford another salary right now?" "I would be bringing her into the business as a partner." "Partner? You mean like a business partner?" "That's right." "Then I'd work for her too?" "That's right." "Oh. I see. That would be almost like a marriage too." "Exactly. That's why I have to be careful to choose the right person," he said as the phone rang on Tiffany's desk. "Manhattan Party Planning," Tiffany answered. "Tiffany this is Alexis, tell Clark dinner will be at eight. I have to run thanks darling," she said hanging up the phone. "That was Alexis. She said dinner will be at eight," Tiffany said wide-eyed with shock. "I'm going to her house on the Upper East Side. I'll get to see how she lives," he said as his eyes glistened with excitement. "Oh that's nice," Tiffany said watching him walk towards the stairs to go up to his office. "Just cancel the other two appointments for this afternoon. I'm feeling pretty sure of things," he said turning to glance down at Tiffany and smile. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
