Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday July 25th 2003 "I'm here to see Clark Masters," the woman said taking a seat on the sofa in the townhouse where Tiffany worked at Manhattan Party Planning. "Clark stepped out for a few minutes. But he'll be right back," Tiffany said noticing the short red skirt the middle aged woman was wearing. "Have you worked here long?" "Yeah, I've been here about four years I guess." "I guess it's a lot of fun going to all the parties?" "Yeah, it's nice," Tiffany said not wanting to tell her that there hadn't been any parties for a long time. "Do you have experience in the business?" "Yes. I ran my own party planning business for years." "Oh. I see Clark coming now," Tiffany said as Clark opened the front door. "Clark this lady is here to see you about the ad in the New York Times," Tiffany said as the woman came to her feet and extended her hand to Clark. "My name is Alexis," she said smiling warmly. "We'll go up to my office to talk," Clark said as he pointed towards the stairs and followed her. He turned briefly to nod and smile with approval at Tiffany. Tiffany watched the attractive woman walk up the stairs and she noticed Clark's eyes on her beautiful legs. She heard them walk into his office as the phone on her desk rang. "Manhattan Party Planning," Tiffany answered. "How's it going?" Starlene asked. "Well, we had a lot of calls and he's seeing his fifth person today." "He's really serious about hiring someone isn't he?" "I guess he has to. I just don't see how he can afford it though." "Aren't you glad it's not your worry?" "Well it is kinda. I mean if he goes out of business I won't have a job." "Oh don't be so negative." "What's going on with you?" "I have news," Starlene said. "What?" "Stanley called me and he has to go to Washington on the same night as the party at Gracie Mansion." "Oh I'm sorry Starlene. I guess that ruins your plans of meeting the mayor and starting a romance with him," Tiffany said laughing at her sister's plans. "Oh no it doesn't either," Starlene said confidently. "How's that?" "I talked him in to letting me go without him." "You're kidding?" "No. This is just perfect. Now I won't have Stanley inhibiting my chances of getting to first base with the mayor." "Starlene the mayor is seeing someone else. Don't you think his date will be with him? You are really too much!" Tiffany said laughing. "There will be a lot of press there. I hope to get my picture taken with the mayor and get good exposure." "And what do you think Stanley will say about that?" "Until Stanley agrees to marry me he doesn't have anymore say about what I do." "Does he know that?" "Nope. I don't even owe him that much. He's losing out with everyday that goes by." "Shhh" Tiffany said putting her hand over the phone to listen. "What?" Starlene asked. "I hear Clark coming down the stairs," she said smiling as Clark and Alexis walked down the stairs. They walked towards the front door and he opened it as Alexis walked out into the bright sunshine. He stopped in the doorway and glanced back. "Take messages Tiffany. Alexis and I are going out to lunch," he said raising his eyebrows and smiling before closing the door. Tiffany watched them walk over the cobblestones smiling and laughing. She glanced down at Alexis's resume on her desk. "I think this is a serious candidate," Tiffany said into the phone. "Why do you say that?" Starlene asked. "I'm looking at her objective on the resume and it says she ran her own business in New York City. She closed the business for 'personal reasons'. It says her objective is to become a partner in another business with a motivated party planner." "What do you think Tiffany?" "I might have two bosses soon," Tiffany said noticing Clark had slid his arm around Alexis's waist as they strolled towards the gate. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
