Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday July 24th 2003
"Morning Clark," Tiffany said as she watched her boss walk down the stairs into the living room of the townhouse where she worked.
"Hi Tiffany.  What are your plans for today?" he asked.
"I was going to work on the billing."
"There really isn't much billing to do is there?" he said taking a seat in the chair beside her desk.
"No. It has been slow."
"You know since Nicole left, I won't be doing parties for her father anymore. That about dries up my business," he said referring to his wife's mob boss father in Florida.
"It was hard on you traveling to Florida all the time anyway.  Wasn't it?"
"I would have done anything for Nicole."
"I'm sorry Clark.  I know it's hard for you losing your wife," she said referring to Nicole leaving him recently.
"She left for Florida last night."
"She did?"
"Yeah. She called me from the airport. She and Vinny both left."
"Wow.  That's it I guess."
"I have to get my life back together."
"I know."
"I just feel too distracted for business these days," he said picking a piece of lint from his trousers.
"But working would get your mind off of everything don't you think?" she said wondering if he was going to tell her she was fired because of the lack of business.
"I just can't think anymore Tiffany," he said his voice cracking with pain.
"I'm so sorry Clark.  You know time really does heal though."
"I guess you have been through this kind of pain before too," he said referring to her divorce from Skeeter.
"Yeah.  Skeeter really broke my heart, but you have to go on."
"You really did go on.  I mean you met Amir right away," he said referring to his client and her lover.
"That wasn't easy either though," she said referring to the fact Amir had a comatose wife that later died.
"I'm not ready to see other people though."
"I know it'll take time."
"But in the meantime I have to make a decision Tiffany."
"About what?"
"What to do with this business or lack of it."
"Maybe it will pick up."
"I doubt that.  I've always had to be out there hustling and I'm just not up to it right now.  This is really a critical point for me."
"Is there anything I can do?"
"I don't think so.  I mean you really have never done sales. I need you here in the office to answer the phone too."
"What are you going to do then?"
"I think I'm going to hire someone to do sales."
"That sounds like a good idea," she said feeling uneasy about her future.
"That would leave me free to go to Florida.  Her father has told me he won't be giving me anymore of his business.  But maybe I can at least get my wife back," he said wiping a tear from his eyes.
"It's something to think about," she said.
"There's an ad in the New York Times today, so you might be getting calls.  Just set up appointments starting tomorrow," he said getting up from the chair.
The phone rang as Tiffany watched him walk towards the stairs to go up to his office.
