6 - 7 large ripe but firm peaches, stoned and sliced, to fill 1 1/2 quart baking dish 3 tablespoons light-brown or dark-brown sugar 3 tablespoons butter 1 egg 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder Heavy cream or ice cream
Turn the peaches into a generously buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle with the brown sugar and dot with the butter. In a bowl, beat the egg. Sift into it the granulated sugar, flour, and baking powder. Stir until mixture is blended; it should be crumbly. Pile on top of peaches. Bake for about 35 minutes in 350 degree preheated oven.
