Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday July 9th 2003 "Hurry Vinny, you have to leave," Starlene said getting up from the sofa after her older lover Stanley had called and talked into the answering machine. She and Vinny had been in the middle of a passionate encounter on the sofa of her apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. She had just told Stanley she was going to see other men because he hadn't agreed to set a date for their wedding after years of stalling. "Why should I leave?" Vinny asked straightening the gold chain on his neck. He admired her voluptuous bosom as she reached behind her back struggling to re-hook her lingerie. "Because. You heard the message Stanley left Vinny. He's on his way over here. He said he would tell the doorman to let him in when he gets here." "Call the doorman and tell him not to let him in," Vinny said picking up his beer from the coffee table and taking a leisurely swallow. "I can't do that. The doorman always let Stanley in. Stanley's a well known man," she said pulling her low cut cotton sweater down in the front. "I might not be the smartest guy in the world but I think you were enjoying what we were doing here", he said glancing down at the sofa. "I was Vinny, but Stanley's on his way over," she said taking a seat beside him on the sofa and putting on her sandals. "Then you were using me to get that old man back. Is that it?" "No," she said glancing up to see the hurt in his eyes. "Looks like that to me. I almost knew you in the Biblical sense here Starlene. Now that old man calls and you tell me to leave." "I've been with Stanley a long time." "And you told me yourself he won't marry you." "You heard what he said on the answering machine. He said he was sorry and he would marry me, he just needs a little more time," she said brushing her hands through her long blonde hair. "I'd marry you today Starlene," he said buttoning his shirt and tucking it in. "Oh Vinny that's so sweet," Starlene said glancing towards him nervously. "I ain't sweet Starlene, but I'm in love with you." "You couldn't be in love with me Vinny. I mean we haven't known each other long." "How much time does it take for me to see what I want. I'm not like this high society old man that's been stringin' you along for years." "I'm sorry Vinny," she said getting up from the sofa and standing in front of him. "So you want me to leave?" he asked earnestly looking her in the eyes. "Yes. I'm really sorry," she said watching his eyes drop to the floor. "It's just that I've invested so much time in my relationship with Stanley." "After he went to bed with Nicole, you still want to invest some more time?" he said reminding her of Stanley's unfaithfulness. "He swears he's not seeing her anymore." "She says different," he said referring to the fact that Nicole's mob boss father in Florida had sent him to New York to straighten out Nicole's affairs and her pending divorce to Clark. "I have to find out." "I could make him tell you the truth," he said as his eyes narrowed. "No. No. Please don't do anything like that," she said eyeing his muscular body and thinking about the chest pains Stanley had complained about in the past few months. "I won't. Just cause you asked me to Starlene," he said as his jaws tightened. "Only cause you asked." Starlene glanced at the clock on the mantle and her heart raced as she realized Stanley could be here any minute. "I hate to ask you to do this Vinny... but you better hurry. He'll be here soon," she said as her heart jumped when she heard the elevator door open in the hallway outside her front door. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
