Clark asked as he quickly ran down the stairs of his townhouse when he heard the front door close. "No, Clark's it's just me," Tiffany said closing the door and walking towards the desk in the townhouse where she worked. "Good morning," Clark said walking towards her desk and watching her put her purse in the drawer and get settled to work. "Good morning Clark, are you okay?" she asked noticing his bloodshot eyes. "No. I didn't sleep much last night. I worried about Nicole. I called her at the Plaza Hotel after we talked." "You didn't tell her that I told you I made the reservation for her?" Tiffany asked. "No. I promised you I wouldn't. I just told her that I guessed where she went." "How did it go?" "She promised if I let her get some rest last night that she would talk to me today," he said taking a seat in the chair beside Tiffany's desk. "I'm so sorry Clark." "Yeah, this is just a big surprise Tiffany. I thought Nicole and I were happy," he said. "I guess not." "Did you see any signs that she was unhappy?" he asked with a sincere look of desperation on his face. "Maybe some," Tiffany said wondering how much she should tell him. "Please Tiffany help me out. I just have to know why Nicole is so unhappy." "Clark I really think it's more her personality than anything else." "You mean she's just an unhappy person?" "Well, yeah, that could be it," Tiffany said hoping that would satisfy him. "I can change that for her. I can be so good to her that she will be happy." "I don't think so Clark. I think it might have something to do with the way she was raised. You know?" "You mean her Father?" "Well, yeah," Tiffany said remembering the many articles she'd read in the newspaper about Nicole's Father being a crime boss in Florida. "I guess being brought up with a lot of money and marrying me was a disappointment," he said his voice trailing off in pain. "I don't think it was money necessarily." "Well, what then?" "Maybe Nicole never learned to love because she didn't feel loved by her Father or something." "Then I'll love her until she learns what love is." "Oh Clark you really are such a nice person. You'll meet someone else and fall in love again one day," Tiffany said realizing she'd never seen her boss in this light before. "No. I'm married to Nicole. I have to do anything it takes to make it work." "But if she doesn't want it to work Clark." "Every woman wants her marriage to work. Don't they?" "Unless they have someone else or something like that." "Do you think she's got someone else Tiffany?" "Maybe Clark." "Have you ever seen any signs of her straying or anything like that?" he asked wiping a tear from his cheek. "I would want to know Tiffany. That would help me get over her," he said wiping another tear. "I've wondered sometimes Clark. I wondered if she was ready to be married. But I don't really know more than that," Tiffany lied. She was relieved to see the front door open interrupting the uncomfortable line of questioning. "Nicole!" Clark said as his eyes lit up at the sight of his young wife. "Clark, I just came by to pick up some things. I don't have much time," she said starting towards the stairs. "Why honey?" he said following her as she started to race up the stairs. "I'm leaving town and I've got someone waiting to take me to the airport," she said never turning to look at him as he followed her up the stairs towards their bedroom "I could take you Nicki," he said. "No. That's okay. Vinny's waiting in the car," she said referring to the big brute that works for her mob boss Father in Florida. "I thought he left to go back to Florida?" "Father told him to stick around to help me out." "Why?" he asked as he raced up the stairs behind her. "To make sure there isn't any trouble." CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
