Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday June 24th 2003 "Jan come downstairs", her Father Stanley called out. The front door of her house slammed as her husband Skeeter left angry. "Father are you okay?" she called out as she walked from her bedroom to the staircase and looked down. "Yes, I'm fine," he said watching her come down the stairs dressed in a silk lingerie. "Where's Skeeter Father?" she said looking around the living room and pulling the low cut lingerie to her chest. "He's gone," Stanley said walking to the sofa and taking a seat. "Oh. Has he left me Father?" she said taking a seat in the chair nearby. "I don't know." "What do you mean?" "We fought. I don't know what he'll do. Do you care?" "Well, of course I care. He's my husband. I was expecting him to at least come upstairs and talk this over with me." "Is that why you put on that gown?" "Yes." "Oh Jan. Skeeter is just so bad. You really are making a huge mistake. You have to get over him and let me help you get out of this marriage." "I don't know," she said reaching for the wine decanter and pouring another glass of wine. "Jan, he's lying. I don't believe his story that he was at the Plaza Hotel talking to Nicole tonight. I don't believe that her Father has threatened to come after me naming me as the man that is interfering with her marriage to Clark," Stanley said repeating Skeeter's excuses. "But you did have an affair with Nicole and her Father did warn you," Jan said. She remembered how nervous Nicole's mob boss father had made him. "That was a long time ago though. I think Skeeter made that up to get himself out of a tight situation when you caught him in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel tonight." "But Skeeter is your son-in-law and that makes sense that Nicole would come to him with the problem," Jan said repeating Skeeter's clever excuse. "So whose side are you on now? I just want you to be happy." "What if the story is true? Then her Father might order a hit on you," Jan said as they both heard the plump housekeeper Ilona gasp from behind the doorway where she had been eavesdropping all evening. "I'll call her Father and feel him out," Stanley said. "What about Skeeter?" "I'll have the marriage dissolved immediately," Stanley said. "I don't know," Jan said running her fingers over the silk gown she was wearing. "Jan I told you Doctor Newman has a nice son. I could fix you up with him." "I don't want you fixing me up Father." "But you can't stay with Skeeter, you heard the gossip on that silly TV show tonight," Stanley said reminding her of the ugly way they had put down Jan's marriage to a 'southern lingerie salesman'. "You're right. You're right and I know it. You have to give me time Father to think this over," she said getting up and starting to pace the floor. "You better not take too long Jan. Skeeter is clever. The longer you wait the more this will cost you," Stanley said. "Cost me? As if this embarrassment isn't enough?" "I'll take care of it Jan. You'll see," Stanley said as he got up to leave. "Let me think about it until tomorrow at least," she said. "Tomorrow. We'll talk then," Stanley said walking to the front door. "Father where did Skeeter go when he left?" "I don't know," he said walking out into the warm evening air. "I'm sure he didn't go far enough," he said wondering what his son-in-law was up to now. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
