Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday June 23rd 2003 Skeeter glanced towards his Father-in-law Stanley satisfied when he noticed the perspiration on his forehead. He watched his wife Jan grimace and her Father Stanley squirm in his chair after reminding them that Nicole's Father was a mob boss in Florida. "I just don't see what this has to do with you being at the Plaza Hotel with Nicole tonight," Jan said picking up her wineglass and taking a long sip. "Nicole told me that her Father blames you," Skeeter said pointing to Stanley. "Me?" Stanley said as his face turned white. "Yes, you. Her father thinks it's because you deflowered her so to speak before she married Clark," Skeeter said with satisfaction. "That's the craziest thing I've ever heard of," Stanley said getting out of his chair and walking towards the living room window so they couldn't see the stress on his face. "How could what happened a long time ago ruin Nicole's marriage," Stanley said turning to face Skeeter. "She says her Father thinks it does. He doesn't believe that she quit seeing you and that's why she wants to divorce Clark." "Why would she tell you? This is crazy!" Jan said. "Because she knows that Stanley is my Father-in-law now and she wants me to warn him," Skeeter said. "Warn me?" Stanley said feeling the familiar pain in his chest. "That her Father might be coming to New York to talk to you again," Skeeter said. He remembered that Nicole had told him of the conversation her father had with Stanley years ago warning him to leave his daughter alone and referring to it as his final warning. "I can't take this. I just can't take this," Jan said getting up from the sofa and starting to pace the living room. "Jan darling. Why don't you go upstairs and lie down. I'll straighten this out with Skeeter, man to man," Stanley said putting his arm around Jan. "How Father? How can you straighten this out?" "Just go Jan," he said hugging her as he whispered in her ear. "Money Jan. I'll get rid of this problem with money," he said feeling her tense body instantly relax. "Okay. I'll be upstairs," she said turning and walking past Skeeter without looking at him. The two men watched her walk up the stairs and Stanley turned to look at Skeeter. "You're a liar," Stanley said. "You're a cheat," Skeeter said. "What are you talking about?" Stanley said lighting another cigarette. "You promised to pay me if I talked Jan out of a big wedding and you didn't," Skeeter said pouring a glass of wine for himself. "I wish I'd never seen the day you married my daughter." "We're family now Stan," Skeeter said watching the older man grimace at his words. "What would it take to get rid of you?" "I don't think it's possible Stanley. See I've learned not to trust you. You don't deal fair and square," Skeeter said. "You're lying about why you were with Nicole at the Plaza Hotel," Stanley said. "Look Stan, I can patch this thing up with Jan. All I have to do is go upstairs and I have my ways of changing her mind. You on the other hand are stuck with me in your family. You're the one that has to prove to me that you're a man of his word. Unless of course you don't have the means?" Skeeter said as Stanley's posture stiffened immediately. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
