Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday June 18th 2003 Ilona heard the front door slam in the living room and quickly walked in to see Jan throwing her handbag on the sofa. "Miss Jan you are okay, no?" the housekeeper asked in her broken English seeing the stress on her employer's face. "No. I'm not okay. Make me a drink," Jan said taking a seat on the sofa. Ilona quickly poured a glass of wine from the decanter and brought it to Jan as the TV played in the background. Ilona glanced at the screen hoping she wouldn't miss the upcoming clip from a movie she hoped to see over the weekend. "Miss Jan I make dinner hours ago for you and Mr. Skeeter," Ilona said referring to the fact that Jan had told her that the newlyweds would be dining at home tonight. "I know Ilona. I know," Jan said downing the drink and holding out the glass for a refill. "Something happen, no?" Ilona said as she refilled the glass and brought the decanter to the coffee table for convenience. "Skeeter. It's Skeeter," Jan said sipping the wine. "Oh no. Nothing happens to Mr. Skeeter I hope and this I pray," she said as her mouth dropped open in fear. She had lived in anticipation of the handsome southerner moving into the house and coming downstairs every morning wearing only his briefs as he had in the past. "No nothing's happened to him yet. When I get my hands on him he will wish he were dead," Jan said finishing off the glass of wine as she watched Ilona refill the glass. "Oh sorry to hear this. You and Mr. Skeeter newlyweds it take time to how you say, settle," she said as they both heard a knock at the front door. "That's probably Skeeter now," Jan said her eyes narrowing as she glanced towards the front door. "I get door. You relax," Ilona said smoothing her skirt over her bulging hips as she walked towards the door. She opened the door expecting to see the handsome southerner. "Ilona, is Jan here?" Stanley asked. "Yes, Mr. Morgan she's in living room," she answered. He walked in and she closed the door behind him. "Jan darling are you okay?" Stanley asked. "Yes, I'll manage Father," Jan said watching her Father walk into the living room and take a seat in a nearby chair. "Did you go to the Plaza Hotel looking for Skeeter?" he asked. "Yes." "Was he there like I told you?" "Yes Father he was there," Jan answered watching Ilona pour another glass of wine and take it to her Father. "Was Nicole with him?" Stanley asked taking a long sip of the wine as the TV show went to a segment on local gossip. "I didn't see her but I saw him in the lobby leaving." "Oh. Well, that's just too much of a coincidence that he'd be there and Nicole just left her husband," Stanley said noticing that Ilona was now only pretending to be watching the TV. "I know. I know you're right Father," Jan said shaking her head. "Well, did he admit he had met Nicole there?" "No. We didn't get that far. I ran into a friend and I didn't want her to know," Jan said referring to a high society lady she bumped into and had demanded Skeeter leave so she wouldn't know they were fighting. "It's time to get rid of him Jan. Before it's too late and he ruins your standing in the community," Stanley said. "I think you're right Father. I didn't want anyone to know I was married to him tonight," Jan said wondering if she might actually cry over this. Stanley quickly put his glass of wine on the table and turned to look at the TV screen when a picture of Jan appeared beside a picture of Skeeter as the gossip reporter laughed and said "It's our believe it or not story of the year. Socialite Jan Morgan is said to have flown to Las Vegas for a quickie marriage to a lingerie salesman from Georgia. The lingerie salesman Mr. Skeeter Diamond recently divorced his wife Tiffany Diamond also from Georgia. Miss Diamond has been seen on the arm of many wealthy men since she moved to New York four years ago, including none other than Amir Hada. Recently Miss Diamond was seen with the theatre owner and heartthrob Brandon Douglas. Could it be true that socialite Jan Morgan is reduced to picking up the crumbs of this beautiful southern belle? We'll be right back with more local gossip about guess who? The Trumps," the announcer said with enthusiasm as the station went to a commercial break for a Broadway play. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
