Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday June 12th 2003
Nicole heard the tap on the door of her room at the Plaza Hotel.  She quickly glanced at her hair in the mirror as she walked towards the door.  She partially opened the door and peeped out into the hallway.
"Hey Baby," Skeeter said in his southern accent smiling broadly.
"It didn't take you long to get here," she said as she held the door open for him glancing into the empty hallway behind him to make sure no one had seen her visitor.
"This is a nice room you got here," Skeeter said walking towards the window and glancing down at Central Park and the skyline of the city.
"Glad you like it. Did you have any problems getting away from Jan?" she said referring to his new bride.
"Nope.  I just didn't come home tonight," he said turning to look at Nicole.
"You just got married a few weeks ago and you just didn't show up after work today?" she said laughing.
"That's right.  I guess I'll have to think of something," he said walking towards the bar and pouring himself a drink.
"How do you like being married to Jan?"
"Married is married I guess," he said taking a long sip of the Jack Daniels. "How did Clark take the news of you leaving him?"
"Rough.  I never thought he'd go on and on like he did.  It's just horrible. That's why I just packed a bag and left. I didn't want him begging me to stay."
"You love him Nicki?"
"What is love Skeeter?" she asked as the phone rang.  "That's probably Room Service," she said walking to the phone and picking up the receiver. "Yeah," she said expecting a waiter on the other end of the phone.
"Nicki.  I have to talk to you.  You can't just walk out on our marriage like that," Clark said his voice trailing off as he wiped the tears from his eyes.
"How did you know I was at the Plaza?" she asked turning to shrug her shoulders at Skeeter.
"I guessed," he said not wanting to tell her that Tiffany had given him some hints.
"Did Tiffany tell you?"
"No. I'll come over and we'll spend a romantic evening together honey," he said.
"No.  Didn't Vinny tell you that Daddy is expecting me to move back to Florida?" she asked referring to her father's friend that had come up to break the bad news to Clark.
"Why Nicole? Why did you let your Father send his friend here to tell me you were leaving me?"
"Because I didn't want to get involved in this kind of conversation Clark."
"Nicole I love you."
"Look Clark I came here tonight so I could get some sleep without talking about the divorce."
"Let me just come over there and hold you tonight," he said picking up a framed wedding picture and looking at her image in happier days.
"No, don't come over here Clark."
"But I want to talk to you before you move to Florida."
"If you'll let me sleep tonight, I'll stop by tomorrow and talk to you," she said hoping to get rid of him.
"Promise honey?"
"Yes, good night Clark," she said hanging up the phone.
"Nicole I better go.  He might come by," Skeeter said downing his drink.
"I don't think he will," she said not wanting to be alone all night in the hotel.
Skeeter glanced at his watch.  "If he did come it would take him a little while to get here.  Come here Baby," he said walking towards her.
