Starlene asked Tiffany as they listened to Nicole walking up the stairs after announcing she was going to pack and leave her husband Clark. She had inferred she had another lover and that he was married. "Yes, I sure did. If I didn't know better I would think she's was telling us that she's leaving Clark for Skeeter," Tiffany said referring to her ex-husband. "That's what I thought too. I mean we did overhear her talking to Skeeter on the phone right after Clark left here all upset. She did say she had another man but their timing was off. Skeeter did just marry Jan," Starlene said referring to Skeeter's recent marriage. "I know, I know Starlene. I heard her," Tiffany said tapping her nails on the desk deep in thought. They both looked up when they heard the sound of the suitcase opening upstairs. "She wants me to book a room at the Plaza Hotel. I guess I better do that. It sounds like she's leaving really soon," Tiffany said hitting the keys on her computer to book the reservation. "Poor Clark. She might be gone by the time he comes back to the office," Starlene said watching Tiffany as she printed out the confirmation for the Plaza Hotel. They both looked up when they heard Nicole's footsteps coming down the stairs with her overnight bag on her arm. "Did you get the room for me?" Nicole asked. "Yes, here's your confirmation," Tiffany said holding out the paper as Nicole walked towards the desk. "Thanks," Nicole said dropping her overnight bag and putting the confirmation into her purse. "Look don't tell Clark where I went. I don't want him trying to talk me out of this. I don't want a drama scene. That's why I asked my father to get Vinny to come up and talk to Clark for me," she said referring the big burly friend of the mob family that had come by earlier this morning and broke the divorce news to Clark. "Don't you think that was kinda hard for Clark?" Tiffany asked. "Look he would be upset if I told him. He'd try to talk me out of it. By Vinny coming up he knows for sure it's a done deal. Besides I know Vinny told him that my father would give him a nice settlement. That kind of eases the pain for him. Gee, I'm not hard hearted Tiffany," she said picking up her overnight bag and walking towards the front door. "Will I see you again Nicole?" Tiffany asked as she watched Nicole open the front door of the townhouse to leave. "Oh sure! I love New York. I'm just divorcing Clark, not this city," she said slamming the door. "Wow, I wonder what that means Tiffany?" Starlene asked getting out the chair walking toward the window to watch Nicole hail a cab at the corner. "Just like that, she's leaving. Well, to be honest Clark will be better off once he gets over it. She's never been faithful and she's a horrible person. I worried about him getting involved with her mob boss father anyway," Tiffany said. "Do you think Clark really knows her father is a mob boss?" Starlene asked walking away from the window to take a seat near Tiffany's desk. "I mean Clark seems so naīve." "He never really seemed to accept it. It was like he lived in denial. I mean he read the same newspaper reports that we did. I guess he was so in love with Nicole," Tiffany said. "She was the only woman he'd been with since you knew him too," Starlene said shaking her head as the phone rang on Tiffany's desk. Tiffany answered the phone, "Manhattan Party Planning." "Tiffany, how are you?" a familiar man's voice asked. "I'm fine," Tiffany said not recognizing the voice immediately. "It's Brandon. You haven't forgotten me already have you?" he asked laughing. "Oh no! Hi Brandon," she said smiling broadly as she watched Starlene shake her head in approval at the sound of his name. "I'm in New York. Are you busy tonight?" "No. I don't really have any plans tonight," she said wondering if she should have pretended to be less available. "Good then we'll have dinner," he said. "Sure dinner sounds great. What time?" she asked as Starlene smiled broadly at the news of her sister's plans with the wealthy theatre owner from California. "I'll send my car by at six. I'm staying at the Plaza Hotel, we'll have dinner here. I'll see you then," he said hanging up the phone. "What's the matter Tiffany?" Starlene asked as she watched the smile leave Tiffany's face. "We're going to the Plaza and Nicole will be there too," Tiffany said. "This could get interesting," Starlene said jumping up from her chair and pacing in front of Tiffany's desk. "Real interesting."
