Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday June 4th 2003 "Starlene", Tiffany whispered motioning for her sister to come away from the stairs. Starlene was eavesdropping on the conversation upstairs in Clark's office. Nicole had just come home from shopping to find her husband Clark in tears. While Nicole was on Fifth Avenue shopping her mob boss father had sent Vinny, a family friend from Florida, to talk to Clark. Clark had been devastated to learn that Nicole's father knew she was leaving him and wanted a divorce. Starlene tiptoed back to the desk in the living room where Tiffany was seated. "Starlene, you better go home. If they come back downstairs they will wonder why you stopped by," Tiffany whispered. They both looked up when they overheard the voices of Nicole and Clark upstairs arguing. "I have a right to come by. I wanted to go to lunch," Starlene whispered walking away from the stairs and taking a seat in the chair beside Tiffany's desk. "I can't believe she would have her mob boss father send Vinny up from Florida to break the news to her husband that she wants a divorce," Tiffany said softly shaking her head in disbelief over the events of the morning. "She's a horrible person Tiffany. She had an affair with my Stanley. She's probably been seeing Skeeter too," Starlene said referring to Tiffany's ex-husband. "I think she did. But that's Jan's problem now," Tiffany said referring to Skeeter's new wife and her worst enemy. "Shh, I hear Clark coming down the stairs," Tiffany whispered quickly looking down at her paperwork hoping to appear busy. Starlene watched as Clark walked down the stairs. He wiped a tear from his eye as he walked towards the front door and opened it never turning to look towards them. He walked out slamming the door behind him. The sisters watched through the living room window as he walked over the cobblestones towards the gate of the MacDougal Mews. "He's leaving," Starlene whispered. "Yeah, go see what he does," Tiffany said pointing towards the window. Starlene got up and walked to the window standing beside it to watch. She quickly walked back to Tiffany's desk shaking her head. "He got into a cab and left. You can just see the pain all over his face," Starlene said. "Poor Clark," Tiffany said glancing down at her desk and noticing the light on the phone signaling to her that Nicole was making a telephone call upstairs. "She's on the phone," Tiffany whispered. "I bet she's telling her lover that she just dumped her husband," Starlene said. "Probably," Tiffany agreed. "I'm going to listen," Starlene said getting up from the desk and tiptoeing towards the stairs. Tiffany watched as Starlene pushed her ear towards the stairs and stood perfectly still eavesdropping. She saw Starlene suddenly put her hand up over her mouth and her eyes widened. "What?" Tiffany mouthed to her sister as she got up and tiptoed towards the stairs to listen with her. "Yeah, it's done," they heard Nicole say. The sister's heard the office chair squeak as Nicole leaned back in Clark's leather swivel chair. "I know I'll miss New York some. But it's been boring being married. I need a change," Nicole said reaching for her purse on the floor and fumbling for a cigarette. "Yeah, it's been fun with us. I'll miss you of course. Will you miss me?" she asked then paused to listen. "Who's she talking to?" Tiffany mouthed to Starlene as they stood near the bottom of the stairs listening. Starlene pointed to her ear as if to say keep listening. The sister's stood motionless as they heard the sound of Nicole tossing a cigarette lighter on Clark's desk. "Clark will get over it. He'll meet some boring girl from Connecticut, get married again and have babies. That's the kind of wife Clark needs. What about you? Do you think you'll stay married to Jan?" Nicole asked as she put her feet up on Clark's desk. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
