Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday May 16th 2003
"Skeeter the wine has gone straight to my head.  Make me a cup of coffee would you?" Nicole called out as the hot water of the shower rushed over her body.
"I don't know if I have any coffee," Skeeter said taking a sip of his beer and crushing the can.  He placed the empty can on the nightstand and turned over in his bed glancing at Nicole's clothes on the chair.
"Then call the deli and get me some.  I have to go home.  I don't want Clark to know I've been drinking wine," she said referring to her husband.
"Okay, I'll see if I have any coffee," he said grudgingly getting out of his bed and picking up his jeans from the floor.  He stepped into his jeans and walked towards the kitchen.  He opened the cabinet and pushed some cans towards the back.  He saw an old jar of instant coffee that must have been in there when he was married to Tiffany.  He opened the jar and put a few drops of water into the hardened mixture and spooned it into a cup. He turned on the stove to heat the water and walked into the living room.
"Did you find coffee?" Nicole called out as she turned up the hot water in the shower.
"Yeah, I'm making it," Skeeter said picking up the remote to the TV and turning on the noon news.
An advertisement came on for an evening celebrity entertainment show coming on later tonight.  He dropped the remote when he saw a picture of his new bride Jan on the screen.  "It's official, the wealthy New York socialite Jan Morgan tied the knot.  You aren't going to believe the details of this wedding. Tonight on Celebrity Corner," the announcer said as the station went to commercial break. 
"Oh no," Skeeter mumbled.
"What?" Nicole called out as the hot water ran through her long dark hair.
"Oh nothing.  I guess this is the price I'll have to pay," Skeeter said.
"Skeeter I can't hear you in the shower," Nicole said turning down the water to try and hear his response.
"Forget it Nicole. It's nothing," he screamed as he heard the buzzer ring at the front door of his building.
"Who could that be?" he said out loud getting up and walking to the intercom.
"I can't hear you in here Skeeter," Nicole said frustrated with his mumbling.
"Nothing!" he screamed as the water in the teakettle started to boil and whistle.
He hit the buzzer and listened as he watched the TV screen wondering if he would be pictured next.
"Yeah," he answered into the intercom.
"Skeeter it's me," Jan said as she stood in front of the building waiting for him to hit the buzzer to let her in.
"What?" he asked glancing out of his window to Bleecker Street below.  He saw her limo parked at the curb.
"It's me, let me in," she said hitting the button as the teakettle whistled louder.
"Skeeter the water is boiling," Nicole called out as she reached to turn off the water in the shower.
Skeeter threw down the phone to the intercom and walked down the hall towards the bathroom. He opened the door of the steamy room to see Nicole wrapping her damp body in a bath towel.
"Nicole," he whispered nervously putting his finger to his lips.
"What?" she asked as the kettle whistled and the intercom rang again.
"Jan's downstairs."
