Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday May 12th 2003
Tiffany glanced up from her computer screen when she saw Nicole walk into the living room of the townhouse where they worked.
"Hi Tiffany," Nicole said walking towards her desk and taking a seat.
"Hi Nicole.  Is Clark here this morning?" Tiffany asked wondering if he was upstairs in his office or out on a sales call.
"He went out.  I hope he stays out too," Nicole said picking up the mail from Tiffany's desk.
"Have you two been fighting?" Tiffany dared to ask.
"No. I just need some time alone.  He's always hanging around me.  I'm sick of this. I never should have gotten married.  I thought it would be fun," Nicole said tossing the junk mail on Tiffany's desk as she sorted through the envelopes.
"Why did you marry him?"
"I'd never been married before.  You know.  All women want to get married a few times," she said.
"A few times?"
"Yeah. I'm sure I'll have a couple more in my future. I met a few I'm interested in now.  If Clark would just go to Florida and give me a little break."
"Aren't you afraid that he'll catch you?" Tiffany asked looking up as the front door of the townhouse opened and Jan walked in smiling broadly.
"Hello I'm glad everyone is here," Jan said closing the door and walking towards Tiffany's desk.
"What's up Jan?" Nicole asked tossing the bills on Tiffany's desk and getting up to go upstairs and phone her new lover while Clark was out.
"Is Clark here?" Jan asked.
"Nope.  He's gone out on a sales call," Nicole said walking past Jan towards the stairs.
"Oh what a shame.  I wanted to tell everyone at the same time," Jan said. She glanced towards Tiffany noticing that she had started typing numbers into the computer and seemed to be ignoring her.
"What's on your mind Jan?" Nicole asked stopping before she went up the stairs to make her phone call.
"Skeeter and I got married yesterday," she said watching, as Tiffany never looked up. "Did you hear me Tiffany?"
"Yes, I heard you Jan," Tiffany said in a soft voice never looking up.
"What?" Nicole asked walking back into the living room to stand beside Jan.
"Skeeter and I went to Las Vegas and got married," she said holding out her hand to show off the wedding band to match the big diamond she had bought herself months ago.
"Unbelievable!" Nicole said.
"Aren't you happy for me?  Isn't anyone here happy for me?" Jan asked noticing that Tiffany had never looked up from the computer screen.
"What do you expect Jan?" Nicole asked glancing towards Tiffany to see her staring at them.
"Perhaps a congratulations would be in order."
"Congratulations Jan. You married my ex-husband.  I hope he'll be just as good to you as he was to me," Tiffany said looking back at her computer screen.
"Where's Skeeter?" Nicole asked shocked that he'd gone through with this wedding. She had shared an intimate afternoon with him only a few weeks ago in his apartment and he'd insisted he wouldn't marry Jan.
