Stanley said glancing from the honeymoon brochures on the kitchen bar to her carry on luggage on the floor nearby. "I told you I was going to marry Skeeter," she said watching her housekeeper Ilona pour her father a glass of brandy and hand it to him. "He's a lingerie salesman Jan. What is the matter with you?" Stanley asked taking a long sip of the brandy and putting the glass back on the bar. "I'm going to marry him." "Well, what about the big wedding plans you had?" Stanley asked remembering his conversation with Skeeter. He offered Skeeter one hundred thousand dollars if he'd back out of the big wedding and save him the humiliation of his daughter marrying the low class southerner. He had foolishly believed that Skeeter would never be able to talk Jan out of the big wedding and social event she had always dreamed about. "I changed my mind." "But what about the wedding you always wanted Jan?" "It's not important." "Not important? Are you crazy?" "You're the one that was so worried about what people would think about me marrying Skeeter. Remember Father?" Jan snapped. "But to run off and marry him. I mean, where are you going to go?" "To Vegas," Jan said pointing towards the decanter for Ilona to pour her a drink as well. "Oh great. I can just see it in the newspaper now "Jan Morgan marries a lingerie salesman in a casino in Las Vegas," Stanley said holding his glass out for Ilona to refill his drink. "I might not even put it in the newspaper." "Oh, that's not like you. I thought you wanted all of your friends to know you were finally getting married." "Finally. I heard that Father. Well, I will be just as married as if I'd walked down the aisle." "You can't do this Jan. Why don't you wait honey," he said softening his voice in an attempt to persuade her. "Wait? I've waited for years. What would I wait for? Skeeter's agreed to marry me." "I know that Doctor Newman has a son about your age. I could talk to him," Stanley said taking another sip of his brandy. "Stop it! I don't need for you to try to fix me up again. I've got a man that has decided to marry me and I'm getting married," she said as the doorbell rang. "You want for me to get?" Ilona asked holding the decanter in her hand. "I'll get it," Jan said getting up from the bar. "I'm sure it's Skeeter. You better be nice Father. You better not mess this up for me now," Jan said placing her glass on the bar as the doorbell sounded repeatedly. "It looks like you've already messed up," Stanley said motioning for Ilona to refill his glass. "Mr. Skeeter be good husband to Miss Jan, no?" Ilona said as she refilled his glass. "He wasn't a good husband to Tiffany. I don't know what I can do," Stanley said getting up from the barstool to leave. "Stanley. You're here to throw some rice?" Skeeter said in his southern accent as he dropped his overnight bag on the kitchen floor and winked at Ilona. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
