Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday May 6th 2003
"Ilona have you seen my blue blouse that I bought in Paris?"  Jan said walking into the kitchen where her housekeeper was busy preparing dinner.
"No Miss Jan. I look for you," she said in her broken English drying her hands on her apron.
"Forget it.  I'll take another blouse," Jan said opening the refrigerator door and taking out a soda.
"You go on trip?" Ilona said as she noticed the carry on bag Jan had on her arm.
"Yeap. I'll be leaving tonight after dinner," Jan said popping the top on the can of cola and placing the bag near the kitchen bar.
"How long you stay on trip?"
"Oh, just a day.  Skeeter and I are going to Las Vegas," Jan said taking a long sip on her cola as she watched her housekeeper's eyes widen at the news.
"Oh Miss Jan.  You marry Mr. Skeeter at chapel in Lost Vegous?"
"Yes, I guess so. It's not what I really wanted but he talked me into it."
"This so romantic for you.  Mr. Skeeter is very handsome man," she said feeling her face redden as she thought of the times that he'd come downstairs in his briefs.
"Yeah, he is.  I just wish he were more cultured.  I worry about how I'll handle him with my Sutton Place friends," Jan said taking a seat at the bar.
"Mr. Skeeter... he charm womens.  Men, who care what they think? No?"
"Yes you're probably right Ilona.  I'll just do all the talking when we're out," Jan said as the doorbell rang.
"I get door," Ilona said untying her apron and rushing towards the living room.  Jan picked up the honeymoon brochures from the bar and started to look through them.  She had almost decided on Italy. Deciding wasn't as urgent now that Skeeter had demanded that the wedding would take place in Las Vegas.
"Jan, I'm glad you're here.  I came to ask you a favor," Stanley said walking into the kitchen as the housekeeper followed him.
"Hello Father. I wasn't expecting you to come by this afternoon."
"I've got myself in a little bit of a jam and need for you to help me out," Stanley said taking a seat at the barstool beside her.
"What's that?"
"I wanted to ask you to attend the Weinstein lunch for me tomorrow.  I have another meeting that I really need to attend," he said glancing down at the bar and noticing the honeymoon brochures.
"I won't be here tomorrow Father," she said taking a sip of her cola.
"You going somewhere?" he said noticing the carry on bag on the floor beside her.
"Yes.  I'm packing now to go to Las Vegas."
"Why?" he said as his heart raced with fear.
"If you must know Father… Skeeter and I are going to get married."
"Oh God.  He's doing it," Stanley said thinking that Skeeter would never talk his daughter out of a big wedding and into running off.
"Yes. We're getting married.  I know you're disappointed that you won't be walking me down the aisle.  I mean I know how much you wanted to be at your only daughter's wedding," she said viciously as her eyes narrowed thinking about how he had disapproved so strongly of the good looking southerner.
"Maybe we should talk this over Jan," Stanley said motioning for Ilona to pour him a drink from the decanter nearby.
"We don't have time Father.  Skeeter will be here any minute now," she said glancing at the clock on the wall.
