Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday April 28th 2003
"What did she say?"  Stanley asked as Starlene hung up the phone from speaking with her sister Tiffany.
"She's in Brandon's room at the Plaza Hotel," Starlene said smiling broadly as a distant look came over her face.
"She fell for him fast. I knew she would.  He's never had any problem with women," Stanley said taking a sip of his wine and thinking about how lucky Brandon was tonight.
"She was worried about Amir though."
"Why?"
"She loves Amir and I think she feels she's being unfaithful."
"Amir's a married man and he's got a lot of problems right now."
"Amir's wife was in a coma when they met.  Tiffany didn't even know about her.  Tiffany can't help it if she's fallen in love with him."
"Yeah, but his wife did come out of the coma and the poor woman has been abducted. Amir's luck hasn't been too good lately."
"You know you're right Stanley.  Everything seems to be falling apart for him.  I mean at one time he was going to run for mayor back when Mike Bloomberg decided to run."
"Amir will never be able to run for any office now."
"Because of his wife?"
"No, not that. It's that he's a citizen but he's still a foreigner."
"It just doesn't seem fair really.  He's such a nice guy.  Actually I like him more than Brandon.  But Brandon is more showy or something," Starlene said as the phone rang on the coffee table.
"Hello," she answered.
"Starlene hello. I only have little time," Amir said.
"Amir.  Hi!  Stanley and I were just talking about you," Starlene said shocked by the timing.
"Is Tiffany home?"
"No. She's not here right now," Starlene said shrugging her shoulders and smiling as she thought about what her sister might be doing now at the Plaza Hotel with the handsome millionaire.
"Do you have number that I call her?" Amir asked in his broken English.
"No.  I didn't get her number.  What's the matter Amir?  You sound upset."
"My wife die," he said choking back the tears.
"Oh God.  I'm so sorry Amir.  When did that happen?" Starlene asked glancing towards Stanley as he mouthed the word "what"?
"Only few hours ago."
"Where are you?"
"On my island. I be here for at least a week.  I want to tell Tiffany before she hear news on television."
"I'm so sorry. Do you want me to have Tiffany call you?"
"She be home later tonight, no?"
"Well, I don't know exactly... I mean I'm not sure."
"I be up all night.  Tell her to call my island.  If I hear her voice this make me feel better," he said as the tears started to come to his eyes.
"If she comes in tonight I'll have her call," Starlene said instantly regretting her words.
"Oh. I never want to bother her," Amir said wondering if his dilemma had already lasted too long.
"She'll be anxious to talk to you. I'll tell her," Starlene said wishing she could take back her prior statement.
