Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday April 22nd 2003
"Ilona, have you done the marketing for the week?"  Jan asked as she walked into the kitchen of her Upper East Side mansion.
"Yes, I go for market yesterday. Some extra you want?" the housekeeper asked in her broken English as she turned to face her wealthy mistress.
"No.  I was going to tell you to skip it this week," Jan said yawning as she poured herself a cup of morning coffee.
"You tired today?"
"Yes, Skeeter and I were up late last night," Jan said pouring cream into her coffee and stirring it.
Ilona watched her stirring the coffee imagining how exciting a late night with a man like Skeeter would be.  The handsome southerner was always making comments about her body and teasing her in a way that made her lust for her mistresses' lover.
"I'm not sure Skeeter and I will be here this week Ilona," Jan said taking a slice from a fresh loaf of bread Ilona had taken out of the oven.
"Oh, I see.  You stay at Mr. Skeeter's apartment?" Ilona asked wishing she could see how the object of her dreams lived in Greenwich Village.
"No. We might go out of town," Jan said taking a seat at the bar and opening the New York Times.
"Vacation be good for you," Ilona said wondering if she should mention the fact that she wanted an extra week of paid vacation this year.
"It won't be a vacation Ilona," Jan said glancing over the headlines.
"No?"
"No, we might go to Las Vegas and get married," Jan said.
"Oh Miss Morgan, this is wonderful news for you," Ilona said hoping Skeeter would move into the mansion so she could see him everyday.
"You think so?" Jan said turning to look at her plump middle aged housekeeper.
"Yes!"
"I don't know.  I had a wedding planner working on the wedding. I was working on the selection of wedding gowns. I was excited about the big event."
"Then why you go to, how you say... Lost Vegas?"
"Because Skeeter says he can't wait."
"Oh, Miss Morgan!" Ilona said putting her chubby hand over her mouth as she giggled.
"Yes, I'm surprised too."
"This good sign he want to marry you so much."
"I don't know.  I wonder if he's just shy about the big affair and the media attention."
"A mans like Mr. Skeeter never be shy, no shy," Ilona said thinking about the provocative look in Skeeter's eyes when he was around her in the kitchen.
"Yeah, shy wasn't the right word.  I don't know what made him change his mind.  Maybe it was dinner with Father last night," Jan said wondering what words were exchanged while she was out of the living room.
"Mr. Morgan no like Mr. Skeeter?"
"Not at all.  I don't think Skeeter likes Father either."
"Then maybe you go to Lost Vegas for wedding, no?"
"Do you think I should? I mean I've always dreamed of a big wedding."
"Many womans
dream to marry man like Mr. Skeeter.  Man like that maybe not wait. Lost Vegas not too far away, no?"
