Tiffany asked glancing back and forth at her sister and her wealthy older lover as they sat on the sofa of the apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "Tell her Stanley. Tell her about what you read in the Celebrity Review," Starlene said glancing towards her older lover as he took a sip of his wine and placed his glass on the coffee table. "It was a short write up about Brandon Douglas and his new Broadway Theater that is set to open in late summer," Stanley said. "Yeah, but how did I get mentioned in the article?" Tiffany said as her heart raced. She had just been with her lover Amir and didn't want to think he'd see the article after she had vowed her loyalty and love for him. "The reporter said someone had reported that you had lunch with Brandon in the Oak Room of the Plaza Hotel," Stanley said straightening his tie. He wondered if Tiffany could tell that she had interrupted Starlene and him at a passionate moment when she came home a few minutes ago. "No one knew I went to lunch with him. How could the tabloids find out?" Tiffany asked glancing towards Stanley. "Clark told the tabloids," Stanley said referring to Tiffany's boss at the party planning business where she works. "Did Clark tell you that he told them?" "Yeah, I called his office to speak to you but you had already left for the day. Clark was disappointed that they only mentioned your name and not where you worked. He hoped for some extra publicity for his business," Stanley said taking a sip of his wine and placing the glass back on the table. "Damn. I can't believe he did that," Tiffany said. "Does Clark know that his wife Nicole went to Amir's office?" Tiffany asked. "Yes, he said he was real pleased that Nicole had taken more interest in business," Stanley said thinking about Nicole and remembering their brief fling a while back. "That hussy probably just wants to make a pass at Amir," Starlene said glaring at Stanley as she remembered the affair. "Oh Starlene, you are so hard on her," Stanley said defensively. "She's goes after every man she meets Stanley Morgan," Starlene said hitting his arm with her hand. "Look this is a real problem for me," Tiffany said rubbing her forehead with her hands. "Why?" Stanley asked. "Because I don't want Amir to think I'm seeing another man while he's got all of these problems with his wife." "You said yourself his wife is in a coma again and he's going to his island to stay with her," Starlene said. "Yeah, but I'm sure he will hear about this. Maybe he already knows and he thinks I'm lying to him," Tiffany said feeling her face redden as she realized her lover might think less of her now. "I think you should go after Brandon. I mean he's a hot looking single guy with a lot of money. Don't you think I'm right Stanley?" Starlene asked. "Yes, I think so Tiffany. It hasn't been easy for you and Amir to have a relationship and it will only get harder," Stanley said. "That's what he said tonight," Tiffany said wiping tears from her eyes. "What happened Tiffany? Did he break up with you because they found his wife?" Starlene asked. "No. He just said that he's received a lot of hate mail because people still think of him as a wealthy foreigner even though he's been a citizen for a few years now." "See that's what I mean," Stanley said. "He says he loves this country, but his business has really been bad since 9/11. He's even thought of selling Manhattan Gold International and just running his spa on his island." "Oh wow," Starlene said shocked at such sobering news. "Now that his wife is almost dead and he's going over there to be with her... I don't know. Maybe I'll never see him again," Tiffany said reaching for a Kleenex. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
