Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday March 25th 2003 Starlene took a seat on the sofa and watched as her older lover Stanley looked through the music in the cabinet in his living room. "There, what would you like to drink honey?" he asked as he walked to the sofa. The music of Frank Sinatra started to fill the Upper East Side mansion. "I'll just have a glass of wine," Starlene said picking up the decanter on the coffee table and pouring her a drink. "I'll have wine too honey," Stanley said taking a seat on the sofa beside her. "Here Stanley," she said handing him a glass of wine. "You look great tonight," he said sipping his wine and glancing down her low cut sweater at her voluptuous bosom. "Thanks Stanley. I wanted to talk to you tonight," she said clearing her throat and preparing her speech. "This is our night Starlene," he said pulling her closer to him. "We can talk on the phone. I've been looking forward to tonight," he said eager to get her upstairs. "We never do any serious talking on the telephone Stanley. I want to talk to you in person about us," she said in her southern accent. "Come on honey. Why don't we go upstairs and then we'll go out to a late dinner and talk," he said reaching under her sweater and trying to unclasp her lingerie. "No. You are always putting me off Stanley." "No, I'm not. You're the most important person in the world to me Starlene," he said as the clasp released and his hands eagerly explored the warmth under the sweater. "I want to set a date for our wedding," she said ignoring his caresses. "Oh. That?" "Yeah!" "We'll do that really soon," he said brushing her long blonde hair from her face with his free hand and starting to kiss her neck. "Stop Stanley. I really want to talk." "But Starlene. You know I need to take advantage of this mood. It might not last," he said worried. "I've been worrying about you long enough Stanley Morgan. It's time to worry about me," she said pushing him away so he couldn't kiss her. "You have been patient honey. You really have." "Not any more though. This is it Stanley. I want to set the date tonight." "But I have a lot on my mind Starlene." "I can tell you do," she said glaring at his hands as she scooted over on the sofa out of his reach. "Alright, what's the matter?" "Look Stanley. We've been together a long time and there are a lot of men that would want to marry me," she lied. " I don't want to wait any longer." "But honey. I've got all of these problems with Jan marrying Skeeter to deal with right now," he said referring to his daughter that was engaged to marry Starlene's ex-brother-in-law. "I don't care about them. You don't want Jan to marry him, so what does that have to do with us." "Well if Jan has a big wedding I might have to handle all of that," he said searching for excuses. "You mean pay for it?" "That's the custom." "I thought you didn't approve and you were going to stop them from getting married?" "I want to but what if I can't?" "Then you could be having a good time married to me no matter what they do." "Come on honey. We'll talk over dinner a little later," he said pulling her closer. "Okay Stanley. But I'm warning you, this might be your last supper with me if we don't set the date tonight," she said thinking about the wealthy handsome man coming by Tiffany's office tomorrow. "You aren't going to run off with someone else are you?" Stanley asked kissing her neck. "Let's put it this way Stanley, you either marry me or get me a job modeling for Playbody," she said referring to his friends with the famous men's magazine. "Not that again," he said thinking she had finally let the subject rest. "Yes, that again and if you don't... I think I know someone that can get me a part in a Broadway play." CONTINUED TOMORROW.
