Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday March 14th 2003
Tiffany sat in the living room of her apartment flipping through the channels on the television hoping to hear news about the woman's body that had been found in the Hudson River.  If the woman was her lover Amir's wife, she knew he would be so upset.  If only she could call him and try to comfort him. Her worry was interrupted when she heard the front door of her apartment overlooking Washington Square Park open and close.
"Is that you Starlene?" she called out quickly muting the volume on the TV.
"Yeah, it's me and Stanley," Starlene said as they walked towards the living room.
"Hey Tiffany," Starlene said noticing that her sister was already in her pajamas and it was early afternoon.
"Hi," Tiffany said pulling the top down on her pajamas as she watched Stanley take a seat in a nearby chair.
"You must be planning on an early evening Tiffany?" Stanley said noticing how attractive she was even without makeup.
"Just down in the dumps and thought I'd relax."
"What's the matter Tiffany?" Starlene asked tossing her purse on the sofa and taking a seat beside her sister on the sofa.
"Oh nothing."
"Yes there is.  You never put on your pajamas before five in the afternoon," Starlene said knowingly.
"I really don't want to talk about it."
"It's Amir and his dead wife isn't it?" Stanley asked.
"Do you know something I don't know?" Tiffany asked.
"No. I just think that the body of that woman was probably his wife don't you?" Stanley said.
"No.  I don't know.  I have no idea.  It's not that."
"Then it must be Skeeter or is it you-know-who?" Starlene said smiling and glancing towards Stanley as she referred to his daughter Jan.
"Well to be honest it is Jan," Tiffany said.
"What has my daughter done now?" Stanley asked pulling out his cigar and lighting it.
"She tricked me so she could marry my husband Skeeter."
"How could she trick you?"
"She had her secretary call and say she was with NYC Investigative Magazine and that they wanted to ask me questions about my relationship with Amir and his missing wife. Then the next day Jan came into the office and threatened to call them and tell them everything about me if I didn't sign the papers."
"Really?" Stanley asked tapping his cigar on the ashtray.
"Poor Tiffany," Starlene said realizing this had to upset her sister to be tricked by her worst enemy.
"Well, don't worry about it Tiffany.  You didn't fall for it," Stanley said.
"Yes I did too. I signed the divorce papers."
"Oh no." Stanley said feeling a pain his chest as he quickly extinguished his cigar and made himself a promise to quit smoking.
"Yes now Jan and Skeeter are going to be married," Tiffany said as the tears started to roll down her cheeks.
"Not if I can help it," Stanley said getting up and starting towards the door.
"What can you do?" Tiffany asked.
"Stop this," he said as Starlene got up to follow him.
Tiffany reached towards the box of Kleenex on the coffee table when she glanced up and saw the TV screen and a picture of her lover Amir.
