Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday March 13th 2003 The phone on Tiffany's desk at work rang and she picked it up answering, "Manhattan Party Planning". "Hay Baby," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent. "Hi Skeeter how are you?" she asked as tears started to come to her eyes at the sound of his voice. "That's what I wanted to ask you? Are you okay?" "Yeah, why?" "Jan told me what she did to you," he said referring to the woman he'd just become engaged to and a client where she worked. "I guess the two of you will be married soon now that I've signed the divorce papers." "Tiffany that was really a low thing Jan did." "She wanted the divorce Skeeter. She offered me money and when that wouldn't work she knew that publicity about my relationship with Amir would be the last straw." "You should never have gotten yourself involved with that rich foreigner Tiffany," he said as the jealousy returned. "Is that why you called me, to remind me that I made a mess of my life," she said sniffling to hold back the tears. "No. No Baby, I didn't call to tell you that. I'm really upset with the way Jan handled all of this. I never thought she'd stoop so low." "You're surprised that she'd offer to pay me off?" "She told me that she didn't offer to pay you to sign the divorce papers." "She's lying. She did offer to pay me." "Well whatever it was the dirty tricks really got to me." "Skeeter what exactly are you talking about?" "Tiffany didn't some woman call you from NYC Investigative Magazine asking you a lot of questions about your relationship with Amir and his missing wife?" "Well she tried to and I didn't tell her anything of course. Not that there's anything to really tell her," she said defensively. "You still don't know do you?" "What Skeeter? What has she done?" "There's no such thing as NYC Investigative Magazine." "But a woman reporter called me at my apartment." "That was Jan's secretary." "Oh! That's so mean Skeeter," Tiffany said as she started to cry openly. "I'm sorry Baby." "It's too late to be sorry. I signed the divorce papers and gave them to her." "I know." "I hope the two of you will be happy," she said through sobs. "Do you want me to call the lawyer and see if he'll stop the divorce from going through?" "Skeeter your engagement to Jan has already been in the newspapers. Everyone knows you are going to marry her. How could you do that?" "I guess I couldn't," he said thinking about Jan's money and the fact that Jan got him his job and he'd get fired. "We haven't lived together in years anyway Skeeter. I guess it was time." "I guess so," he said. "It's just hard to accept the fact that my dream of being happily married is completely dead now." "Baby, I'm sorry. I promise you that I'll make this up to you Tiffany. I'll never love anyone but you." "My love just wasn't enough Skeeter," she said thinking about the many times she thought that he had cheated on her. "Want to get together one more time before the divorce is final? Jan wouldn't have to know. It would serve her right, wouldn't it Baby?" he said hopefully. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
