Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday March 6th 2003
"What did Amir say?"  Starlene asked watching Tiffany as she slowly hung up the telephone.
"That he doesn't know if the body they found is his wife or not," Tiffany said deep in thought.
"Well, what else did he say?"
"That the police are still investigating and DNA will tell the story."
"I guess he's really upset?"
"He sounds more stunned than anything else.  I guess after all these months it would be a big relief to at least know what happened to her."
"Tiffany just think if the dead woman is his wife, then you and Amir can get married soon."
"Oh Starlene, it's way too early to start talking like that."
"Well, think about it.  It would be great for you."
"But horrible for that poor woman and Amir.  I'm sure he's got to be very hurt."
"Did he say if he's coming home?"
"Yes, he was leaving today.  He should be back in New York tonight."
"Did he ask you to see him?"
"No.  We can't see each other until the investigation is over.  We can't really see each other until they figure out what happened to his wife."
"The TV said they found a body in the water. Did he say where they found the body?" Starlene asked.
"The Hudson River," Tiffany said as her face started to whiten.
"Oh no. You and Amir were on the Hudson River in his yacht the night she disappeared."
"Yes. This is horrible," Tiffany said walking towards the window of the living room to look down at Washington Square Park across the street.
"Tiffany don't worry.  You didn't do anything wrong."
"It won't look good Starlene.  I mean I was with Amir on his yacht the night his wife disappeared and now they find her body in the Hudson River!" Tiffany said as tears started to roll down her cheeks.
"Maybe it won't be his wife."
"I sure hope it's not his wife."
"Did he say if it looked like her?"
"No.  But Starlene it's been months, I mean what kind of condition could the body be in after so long?" Tiffany said putting her hands up over her face at the thought.
"Yeah.  That's true. Maybe they won't be able to identify the body."
"That might be worse.  I don't know what to do."
"Nothing.  You can't do anything. Just wait and Amir will help you when he gets home."
"He can't Starlene.  He probably won't be able to call me because that would look like we're getting our heads together or something."
"Man, I never thought I'd be involved in anything like this," Starlene said.
The phone rang on the table. Starlene glanced towards Tiffany and said, "Want me to get it?"
"Yeah," Tiffany said staring at the phone as if it were a snake.
"Hello," Starlene said.
"Could I speak to Tiffany Diamond please," a woman's voice asked.
"I don't know if she's here or not," Starlene said glancing towards Tiffany.
"Who is it?" Tiffany whispered.
"May I ask who's calling?" Starlene asked.
"This is Flowers of New York, we have a delivery."
"Hold on" Starlene said.
"Flowers of New York with a delivery they want to speak to you," Starlene said.
Tiffany quickly walked to the phone and took the receiver from Starlene.  "This is Tiffany Diamond," she said wondering if Amir had sent flowers.
"Yes, this is 'NYC Investigative Magazine', I wanted to ask you a few questions about your relationship with Amir Hada.  Don't hang up we're willing to pay you".
"No," Tiffany said slamming down the phone as tears came to her eyes. "The press is starting to come after me Starlene! They're after me!" she cried.
