Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday March 4th 2003
"Is that you Tiffany?"  Starlene called out when she heard the front door of the apartment open.
"Yeah, it's just me," Tiffany said closing the door of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. She took off her coat and hung it on the rack in the entrance hall.  She walked into the living room as Starlene quickly took her feet off of Tiffany's sofa.
"Hay, how you doing?" Starlene asked reaching for the remote and turning the volume down on the television.
"It's been a weird day," Tiffany said taking a seat in the chair next to Starlene.
"What happened?"
"First Greg next door stopped by and told me he's moving with his family to North Dakota."
"Oh wow.  I guess this is the end of his affair with Nicole."
"I guess. Although he's so upset I don't know.  He's a little scary.  I don't know if this guy might not be a stalker or something."
"It would serve Nicole right for having an affair with that kid," Starlene said picking up her Diet Coke and taking a long sip.
"I guess. I have a lot more to think about than their problems though."
"What else?"
"Then Jan came by and wanted to pay me to sign the divorce papers."
"Really?  She got the carriage before the horse a little bit didn't she?" Starlene said in her southern accent.
"Yeah.  It's almost funny.  I mean she put the announcement in the newspaper and now she's worried about the divorce.  But she's not the only one that's worried about the divorce.  Stanley came by too," Tiffany said referring to Jan's father and Starlene's lover.
"I knew he probably would."
"Did you know he was going to offer me money to not sign the divorce papers?"
"No.  I guess he didn't want Jan out bidding him!" Starlene said slapping her leg with her hand.
"What a mess."
"Well, how much did you make on the mess?"
"Nothing."
"Nothing?  Are you crazy?  You should have taken Jan's money."
"It made me angry Starlene. I don't like her thinking that she can buy me or something."
"What about Stanley's money? What did you tell him?"
"That I wasn't prepared to sign the papers yet."
"I know he was glad to hear that.  He really doesn't want Jan to marry Skeeter."
"I don't want Jan to marry Skeeter either."
"Because you're still in love with him?"
"Well, for a few days I actually wondered about that. But now I think Skeeter is actually just as bad as I thought he was or even worse.  I just don't want to see Jan get what she wants, but on the other hand I think Skeeter deserves to be married to Jan."
"I can understand that," Starlene said reaching for her Diet Coke when she happened to see Amir's picture on the television screen.
"Look, there's Amir!" she said grabbing the remote and turning up the sound on the television.
"Oh look at him," Tiffany said softly as her heart started to race.  She hadn't seen her lover in months.
"When did you hear the latest reports about your missing wife, Mr. Hada?" the reporter said holding the microphone towards his handsome face.
