Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday February 21st 2003
"What was that all about?"  Tiffany asked. She watched the young waitress walk towards the front to attend to other customers in the dimly lit bar on Bleecker Street.
"What?" Skeeter asked innocently. He had touched the waitresses' leg while he thought Tiffany was distracted on her cell phone with her sister Starlene.
"I saw you touch her leg," Tiffany said putting her cell phone back into her purse.
"No.  No you didn't Baby," he lied.
"Yes you did Skeeter. You'll never change. This was a waste of my time," Tiffany said taking out her wallet.
"What are you doing Baby?"
"I'm going to pay for my glass of wine and leave. I should never have agreed to see you Skeeter Diamond. You almost had me convinced that you deserved another chance.  I was wrong, wrong, wrong," she said taking out a twenty-dollar bill and tossing it on the booth.
"I'll get your drink."
"Oh I bet you will pay your
girlfriend," Tiffany said glancing towards the front of the bar and watching as the young waitress stood looking out of the front window onto Bleecker Street.
"She's not my girlfriend."
"Oh so you touch every waitresses' leg that brings you a drink?"
"No.  I'm not even sure I touched her," he lied.  He wouldn't have brought Tiffany into the bar but Denise usually didn't work on Friday evenings.  Now he'd have to explain his relationship with Tiffany to Denise or she'd never see him again.
"You lied to Jan about where you are tonight too Skeeter.  You're engaged to Jan and you're seeing me on the sly," Tiffany said reaching for her jacket on the seat next to her.
"Look Baby, after the other day when we kissed I know you still love me.  Let's just talk this over. Go upstairs with me to my apartment and we'll straighten this whole thing out," he said nodding towards his apartment above the bar.
"No.  Does the waitress usually come upstairs with you Skeeter?" Tiffany asked filled with jealousy as she glanced at the younger girl near the front door.
"No," he lied.
"I don't believe you. I am glad I came here tonight though. It might have saved me from getting involved with you again," Tiffany said sliding out of the booth and putting on her jacket.
"Calm down Tiffany," Skeeter said looking at her long legs wishfully.
"I'm calm Skeeter.  I'm not going to try with you anymore.  Marry Jan if you want.  As much as I detest Jan I do hope you'll be a little more honest with her than you've been with me," Tiffany said grabbing her purse and turning to leave.
"This is it Tiffany. It might be the very last time we get to try and patch it up.  You're making a big mistake," he said.
"You are the biggest mistake I've ever made Skeeter.  Ever," she said quickly turning to walk towards the front of the bar.
Skeeter thought about going after her but knew it would only make more of a scene if he approached her near Denise at the front door.  He reached in his pocket to get out money to pay the bill and leave Denise a big tip before he left.  When he glanced back up he saw Tiffany standing with her back to him talking to someone at the front door. His heart raced when he thought that Tiffany was questioning Denise the young barmaid. Tiffany stepped to the side to open the door to leave. His heart leapt to his throat when he saw Jan walking towards him.
