Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday February 11th 2003 "Skeeter line two is for you", the secretary at the lingerie company said into the phone. "Do you know who it is Baby?" "She said she's your wife Skeeter. You don't have a wife do you?" "Well, she's my ex wife." "Oh. Glad to hear that. I mean it's bad enough to find out you're engaged let alone already married," she said her voice strained with pain. "Look Baby. Don't worry about all this," he said in his sexiest voice. "I don't think we better see each other anymore Skeeter," she said feeling the nagging tears once again. "Look Baby. I'll come over to your apartment later this week and explain all this to you." "No Skeeter. If we get caught seeing each other I could lose my job, it's against company rules. You're engaged to marry a very wealthy woman, you might not need a job anymore, but I do," she said holding her voice down as the boss walked out of his office towards her desk. "It's not over with us Baby. Give me a little time," Skeeter said glancing at the blinking light on the phone. "I have to go Bob's coming," she whispered before hanging up. Skeeter hit the blinking button on the phone. "Hello," he said. "Hi Skeeter. I hope it's okay that I called you at work," Tiffany said. "Yeah Baby, it's fine," he said glancing out of his office door to watch his boss Bob walk towards the secretary's desk in the lobby. "I guess maybe things have gone a little too far now Skeeter," Tiffany said glancing down at the newspaper on her coffee table. "You mean the engagement announcement?" "Yeah. Everyone in the world knows now that you're engaged to Jan Morgan." "That's bothering you?" "Well Skeeter it's in the New York Times," she said feeling tears coming to her eyes when she looked at the picture of him posed lovingly with Jan. "I told you how all that happened." "I know. I know Jan too. She's a pushy person. She's always hated me and she's probably doing this to hurt me." "Why do you say she hates you so much?" "I don't want to go into that," Tiffany said. "What?" "It's because of Amir. Because she worked with Amir and thought she'd end up with him. She hated me from the moment Amir first showed interest in me." "So now that Amir is out of the picture because of his wife and his troubles you're interested in me. You think Jan just wants to marry me to spite you. Is that it?" he said his pride clearly hurt. "See that's why I didn't want to get into this with you Skeeter." "Now that you can't have Amir you want me back is that it Tiffany?" he said watching down the hallway as the boss Bob stood behind the secretaries desk obviously peering down her low cut sweater. "No. That's not it at all Skeeter. See here we go again, now you're blaming me again for our problems." "You're the one that brought it up Tiffany," he said jealous and angry as he watched the secretary glance up at Bob and smile broadly. "I thought maybe we might be able to work things out but that was stupid," Tiffany said folding the newspaper so she wouldn't have to look at the engagement picture again. "No. Tiffany I really want us to try Baby," he said remembering her kisses the other day when he had stopped by where she worked and caught her alone. "No. We're just arguing again Skeeter." "Are you at work today?" he asked hearing the TV in the background. "No. At home." "You didn't have to work?" "I was too upset," she said holding back the tears. "I want to see you. We'll talk this over," he said wanting one last time alone with his estranged wife. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
