Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday January 29th 2003 "Come on in Baby", Skeeter said holding the door to his apartment open for Jan to enter. "Are you sure you didn't go upstairs to Tiffany's apartment tonight?" she asked as she walked into his apartment. "No. I told you I didn't Jan," he said remembering how much he had wanted a few hours alone with his estranged wife. "I just don't know whether to believe you or not," she said taking off her full-length mink coat and tossing it on the back of the futon before taking a seat. "Well you saw your old man outside of Tiffany and Starlene's apartment building, what did he say?" Skeeter said closing the front door and taking off his black leather jacket. "That he'd been with Starlene when Tiffany came home." "So?" "I asked him if you'd been there and he said no." "Well, there you go. There's your answer," Skeeter said walking towards the kitchen. "Want a beer?" he called out feeling a sense of relief. "No. I'd like a glass of wine though," she said glancing around the living room to see if there were any signs that Tiffany had been there. "Well, I'm glad we ran into each other," he lied picking up the beer in one hand and the glass of wine in the other and starting to walk back into the living room. "Are you Skeeter?" she asked taking the glass of wine that he handed her. "Sure Baby", he lied taking a sip of his beer as he took a seat on the futon beside her. "Skeeter I know you were at Tiffany's tonight." "No I wasn't either." "Yes you were. I know you were. I saw you walk out of her building." "Alright. So I was in the lobby. That's all." "Why did you lie to me about it then?" "Because you would think something else." "I know you didn't go upstairs with her. I asked my Father and he said you never came upstairs while he was there." "See. You've been accusing me wrongly. Glad your old man straightened you out," Skeeter said. He took a long sip of his beer and hoped she wouldn't ask if Tiffany had been in his apartment tonight. "I overheard you and Tiffany in the kitchen when she was at work." "We were talking over the divorce." "You kissed her Skeeter." "That's not true," he lied. "What did you do then?" "Just talked." "I overheard you tell her that I bought the engagement ring, didn't you?" she said glancing down at the large diamond she had bought herself for him to give her. "I might have mentioned that." "Why?" she asked remembering that Skeeter had admitted to Tiffany that he didn't love Jan but felt trapped in the engagement. "I was afraid she'd try to get more money out of me," he lied. "Skeeter I told you my lawyers won't let her get anything," Jan said smugly. "Well, you never know what a woman will do when she feels like she's getting left by her man." "I guess you're right, but you don't have to worry about that. I don't have to worry about getting left do I?" she asked. "No," he lied. "Good, because my lawyers could see to it that you never have another penny if you jilt me Skeeter Diamond," she said crossing her legs and allowing her skirt to rise up on her thighs.
