Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday January 23rd 2003 "Look I think I should go home," Stanley said getting up from the sofa and walking towards the front door to leave. "Stanley Morgan you sit down and let's get this wedding date set right now," Starlene said in her southern accent walking towards him. "Oh look I can just go to bed. I've interrupted the two of you," Tiffany said picking up her glass of brandy and starting towards the bedroom. She'd come home unexpectedly and interrupted the lovers. "No. Don't leave. I really have to go home," Stanley said wanting to avoid another confrontation with Starlene over setting their wedding date. "No you don't either Stanley. I've waited months to set our wedding date." "Starlene this isn't the right time," Stanley said. "Then when is the right time?" "Tiffany has a lot on her mind. Can't you see that?" Stanley said. "Oh please. I'm going to bed. I didn't mean to interrupt," Tiffany said as the phone rang beside the sofa. "You didn't interrupt Tiffany. Stanley is just looking for another excuse to put off setting the wedding date," Starlene said as the phone continued to ring. "I'm really exhausted," Tiffany said turning to walk towards her bedroom when the answering machine picked up the call. "Hi. It's Starlene and Tiffany, we're busy or not in. Leave a message," Starlene's voice said into the machine. "Hi Tiffany I guess you haven't gotten home yet. Look baby, I wish you could have stayed here with me tonight. I understand though if you don't want to risk Jan stopping by and seeing you here. Look baby I can't stand it any more. I can't spend another night without you. I want to finish what we started tonight. I'm coming over there. Tell the doorman to let me in when I get there," Skeeter said as the machine echoed the sound of him hanging up the phone. "Wow sounds like you guys were hitting it off," Starlene said knowingly. "We were talking. Just talking. I was afraid Jan might stop by and think something was going on," Tiffany said red faced as she wondered how Stanley really felt about his daughter being engaged to Skeeter. "I'm going home," Stanley said walking towards the door to leave. "No. Look I can't have Skeeter stopping by here," Tiffany said suddenly realizing that her estranged husband was only a few blocks away. "I don't know why not. You're still married to him. He's not married to my daughter," Stanley said. "I'm going to call him now," Tiffany said rushing towards the phone beside the sofa. "Look Stanley Morgan. You're just looking for another excuse to get away and not set the date for our wedding," Starlene whispered as she clutched the sleeve of Stanley's coat. "That's not true honey. We'll set the date. We just need to let Tiffany and Skeeter have the apartment tonight," he whispered. "Aren't you worried that Jan will find out?" Starlene asked. "Jan and Skeeter should never have become engaged it will never work out," he said with conviction. "Skeeter, are you there? Please pick up if you're there," Tiffany said into Skeeter's answering machine as she listened for him to pick up the call. "Look I don't think you should come over here tonight," Tiffany said.
